I just became a member of Sam’s club and noticed that they sell 5 lb tubs of whey protein for 18.99. Upon reviewing the nutrition info, I found that it contained BCAA’s and 22g of protein per scoop. I just bought a 10 lb. bag of ON 100% whey protein from Vit. Shoppe (college) for about $74.
Am I better off getting three tubs of protein from Sam’s club and returning the ON whey, or should I keep the ON whey b/c it might be a better quality of protein?
If I remember right, the Whey I saw at Sams was a tub of “Body Fortress”. I have used BF before in a jam, but it doesnt taste so great and its a low quality protein. In comparing the two you are better off with ON Whey…It doesnt taste great unless you mix it with milk. Never buy the Tropical Punch flavor. Stay with ON.
Have you heard of Protein Factory? (www.proteinfactory.com) If you are looking for pure whey protein, this is the best and most affordable place around. You can choose from a number of “types” (concentrate, isolate, etc.), customize formulas, flavors, etc.
I’ve been using the CFM Whey Isolate for a number of years. At about $9 per pound, and arguably the highest quality whey available, you can’t go wrong. Obviously, use in conjunction with all your favorite Biotest supps.

I believe you were talking about SportsPharma protein. I don’t think it tastes too good, and I’m not sure it is the quality of Optimum Nutrition. It doesn’t mention anything about BCAAs. I noticed less growth when I used SportsPharma, but I also wasn’t training and eating very smart. (Don’t think too much of it.)
I was able to get 10 lbs for $45 from Vitamin Shoppe. You have to go to Froogle and search for “Vitamin Shoppe” then click through. This will allow you to get slightly cheaper prices and free shipping at $50. Then look for a $10 off $50 coupon (should be available all over the Internet, search for some bargain forums).
There’s a lot of whey out there but at the end of the day you’re mostly paying for taste/mixability because even if you eat enough whey concentrate (cheaper kind of whey) you’ll end up with enough of the stuff your body needs.
That’s only whey too, if you’re looking for a nice blend you can make your own in bulk at one of the bulk protein sites or order some of the Metabolic Drive that’s already a nice blend of all the protein you’d need.
If you’re going to buy ON - try allstarhealth.com. Should be about $50 for a 10 lb bag. No matter what you order, the shipping is only $4.95. I’ve been using them for a couple of years with no problems.
Honestly, Biotest’s whey is damn near identical to Isopure’s whey, but a lot cheaper. I give Biotest the nod for bulk protein. It’s inexpensive, good, and ships fast.

Agreed, it is good stuff. I think the only negative is that it only comes in “natural” flavor. I would love to see a chocolate version.

Buy some cocoa powder, mix with the whey, and shake vigorously. You can customize the flavor to however chocolaty you want, and you can get as good a cocoa powder as your taste buds demand. It’s what I do. Same deal with instant coffee.

I’ve been buying my Whey from Sam’s for a couple of years now. If you’re talking about the same stuff I am, it’s made by CytoSport, a decent national brand of supplements, the same folks that make Muscle-Milk. Sure, Biotest’s whey is better, but this is much cheaper per gram.
If I were you I’d just drink the ON whey, they might charge you for re-stocking/shipping/whatever. Try the Sam’s club whey, just don’t get the chocolate, it tastes like ass. Get the vanilla and flavor it however you like.
I’ve been using a protein powder called “whey healthier”.
It comes from organic cows,is high in both CLA and omega 3,contains Immunoglobins,Lactoferrin(which is just as good as raw milk for your immune system),and is the highest quality, best tasting powder I’ve ever tasted.
This is the next best thing to raw organic milk,no doubt.

Holy shit that stuff is expensive. Almost $40/lb from what I could find.
Biotest doesn’t make whey isolate. I think the whey isolate/concentrate blend in Grow! Whey is prefereable most of the time. But if you want whey isolate, you want whey isolate. Good suggestions so far. I used to use allthewhey.com that some other poster mentioned as well.
