Best Type of Whey?

This may sound like a very beginner question but I am going to ask it anyways.

Is there a particular brand of whey that is better than the rest? I went to a local health store to buy some Whey and saw about 15 different varieties. My friend uses 100% Gold Standard and I bought Dymatize Elite.

So is there a particular brand that I should be buying or does it not matter?

Biotest is the brand i prefer. It tastes great, is pretty cheap now, and is the only brand that does not cause me to any sort of gas or bloating. It is top notch stuff!

I will also buy Natures Best 100% Whey Isolate.

Optimum Nutrition has some tasty shit, and causes no gas. Could be the digestive enzymes they add to it, I don’t know.

what ever doesn’t give you gas.

Do you think this is most appropriate place for that question? I’m not trying to be an ass and I am certainly not a Biotest whore. But Biotest does make a quality whey and provides the message board here.

Dance with the one who brought you.

Are there other options? Sure but perhaps you might inquire about these using other resources.

Any time I see a statement like that I have to question whether the poster works for ON because ever time I’ve tried their stuff it was average at best. Their chocolate was like chocolate-flavored water.

Oh, and for what it’s worth, I go with Biotest for most of my proteins.

I’ll occasionally try something new, but I’ve always come back to Biotest because of their quality and taste.

Biotest Grow! Whey!

D

I typically use Kaizen’s Whey Protein, but, would hope to buy Biotest, as, I tried my friends, and, it’s a lot better ^.^

Kaizen’s is pretty good however, really clumpy shit though.

I’ve been hearing good things about PeptoPro, but it also supposedly tastes awful.

Seems rather unwelcoming and unhelpful to tell someone asking a legitimate question that if he’s not here to talk only about Biotest supplements he should leave.

These forums are a resource to discuss a wide field of knowledge, not simply regimens, theories or, that’s right, supplements exclusive to Biotest or T-Nation. That’s part of what makes this place great.

Certainly there are covert shills out there, but sometimes it’s just a matter of different tastes…

Pepto Pro isn’t a good choice unless you plan to use use it for pulsing and/or peri-workout.

Peptopro is casein derived, not whey. And yes, most agree it tastes awful.

It depends on your needs.

Usually least expensive and widely available is whey concentrate, moderate in its purity. You body digests it at a medium pace, so it isn’t ideal to consume for anabolism related to your workouts, but is suitable for a steady amino supply. As with most supplements, established brands are preferred.

Whey isolate is purer and more quickly absorbed, and cross-flow micro ultra-filtrated (CFM) whey isolate purer and faster still. They are both adequate as a part of periworkout nutrition.

Whey hydrosylate is an even more pure and quickly absorbed whey, pre- broken down to it’s most basic amino profile for near-instant absorption. This is the most ideal whey for periworkout nutrition, but less viable as a steady amino source.

Whey is also not the only protein source to be considering, just the most widely used; casein, egg and others have their types and values.

Biotest makes excellent products incorporating these forms of whey – browse the store to get an idea of which products provide what type. Most of us are here because we believe in both this site and the products it sells.

But it’s good to research.

I use ON whey but I’m not a big believer that there’s a big difference between most of them.

Gaspari Intrapro or MyoFusion Double Chocolate. Taste just like chocolate milk and I mix it with water only. Sometimes I make it a little thicker and its like pudding. I don’t think you could ever get tired of the taste.

I understand that it Grow! Whey Protein tastes great, but what makes it high quality? What makes it better than a five pound bag of EAS whey protein? or a tub of GNC protein?

To answer my own question…I just bought two cans of Grow! After having lived on the five pound bags of EAS protein from Sam’s club for years, I’ve discovered that Grow! kicks EAS’s ass on taste alone.

Also, recently I’ve broken through another strength plateau resulting in extreme soreness and difficulty recovering. Adding Grow into my periworkout nutrition has resulted in noticeably quicker recovery. Though it is not the “Ferrari” of proteins, it certainly beats any other product on the market.

Nothing beats one’s own research…

Where the Whey is derived and how the Whey is processed is what will determine it’s quality.

Talking about brands on this board would be going a bit too far.
