box squat depth

Any of you longer-legged box squatters out there, what are the lowest box heights you’ve used for box squatting? Thanks for your input.

I’m not a long leg, but… I read a Tate artilce that suggested two depths, one inch above parallel and one inch below. He used the two different heights for different purposes that I can’t remember. Anyway, about parallel???

Thanks guys, reason I asked and I should have clarified, is I tried to squat on an eight-inch box and couldn’t get my ass down on the box. 11-13 sounds more reasonable…

The high box is ONLY for people who lack flexibility. Otherwise all speed work is done on a 1" below parallel box. All max effort work is done on lower boxes. I’ve used as low as 6" for some max effort work. For the lower boxes, just bring in you stance a bit. Keep it as wide as possible on speed days.
