Do most of the people avoid using plastic, mainly in water bottles? I’m just wondering how necessary it is to avoid drinking water from a bottle? Is it important enough to make the effort to avoid plastic?
Shit man im always drinking out of a bottle, didnt know it was a bad thing.
From his blog, and this guy’s usually right on: http://jasonferruggia.blogspot.com/
Bodybuilder’s Hierarchy of Needs:
- Diet
- Training
- Lifestyle
- Supplements
- Worrying about environmental xenoestrogens.
Is it important? Sure.
But don’t worry about it until you’ve stopped drinking 5 Coke’s every day, working only beach muscles, getting 4hrs of sleep a night, and taking NOXplode.
There are bigger fish to fry and it’s important to stay hydrated.
I would avoid #1, #6, #7 plastics. The others are ok if you aren’t heating things in them or storing anything hot in them. Like the above poster said though, staying hydrated is more important. Personally I use all glass and stainless and don’t buy any drinks in plastic.
You can get a stainless steel water bottle (Sigg, or something along those lines), and then not worry about it.
The other reason to not drink bottled water is that you are paying out the ass for tap water. The cleanliness/purity of bottled water is a convenient myth. Just drink filtered tapwater if you are concerned about contaminants. You will save money and you can drink water that has never touched plastic (or at least isn’t sitting in it).
I know a couple big guys in my gym who walk around drinking one gallon water jugs during their workouts.
I’ll be sure to warn them about estrogen inhibiting their gains next time I see them.

LOL
Last time I checked I had tap water going through a PVC pipe. It’s touching plastic there. Too many people get their panties in a bunch over the smallest things.
I hope everybody that posted here is 250 with about 7% bodyfat or something

Avoid bottled water because it is a rip off and is a waste of resources. Cold water touching plastic is unavoidable unless you drink from the river.
Don’t cook or microwave with plastics.

I wouldn’t cook it or reheat it in plastic.

I’m sure those mega-men behind bars sit and fret about not having access to BCAA or how much xenoestrogens they’re being exposed to.
