Boilerman Wants It All

In America, your man card would be under question, but you’re british so

is expected- you and your boiled beef get a pass :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I deff agree with Flapp regarding resting the meat but it would need to be a massive steak for me to leave it 20 mins. The rule of thumb I use is 1 min per 100g, with a minimum of 3 mins. Everyone has their own way of doing this and the steak Flapp cooked looked amazing so the longer rest deff didn’t hurt it.

I don’t really get small steaks ever, but the smallest ones I’ve gotten would still get a bare minimum of 5-8 minutes.

Tomahawks are a different ball game, though.

'zactly.

Yea man card revocation would be more likely for drinking weak tea or driving an automatic in UK!

Haha I don’t often eat beef outside of mince/ground, chicken and mince are cheaper and harder to screw up!

Ah good to have a rule of thumb specially since in the UK…

I’ve never seen these, or generally any steak this big!

Didn’t know that one. Automatic is the norm in US. And you guys have all those hills! Plus, how do you have a free hand for your tea while you drive?

I rented a stick in Ireland once. Big mistake.

No such thing for me, give me a good piece of steak and some vegetables and I’m a happy dude. I do like pizza, but much more for the toppings than the dough haha. It’s such a rare thing for me to binge on carbs that when I do, I forget how much they fill me up and I overeat. It feels like a cannonball sitting in my guts.

That tomahawk steak you cooked would like to have a word with you

Practice makes perfect, especially with cooking!

I normally cook the meat first and let it rest while I prep the rest of my meal

It came out just about as perfect as I could have expected. Topped out at 138 on the thermometer after I took it off the grill.

Had a corn and bean salad and elotes as sides. Wow. What a good meal.

YES, bro. Look at that sear line, and nice even color throughout. I suppose the question is, HOW LONG DID YOU LET IT REST? Haha

you did the meat proud!

Shoot those sides are not to be forgotten here. They look amazing. :astonished: The meat looks great but at a BBQ it’s the sides thats the cherry on top.

Tell me you had desert?

Lol! I did not want to test the meat gods, so 15 minutes as spoken in the.meat bible.

Thank you! It was a great meal

Yeah the sides were all my wife’s idea, the elotes were absolutely outstanding! She ended up having some espresso ice cream made from almond milk. I had a bite and it was very good. Nothing home made though haha

Landmine belt squat 1x25 at 80lb, 7 minute stripset from 80lb to bodyweight
2x10 NG chins

Shorter than normal session, got home late from work and wanted to hit the main work that I missed yesterday. I absolutely love that stripset and am definitely going to utilize it again. I was having issues keeping the bar in the landmine, so some of the 7 minutes was me trying to not die. Ended up stacking 45s to stand on, which worked out ok but I still have to iron out a safer way to do them. My legs are shaking like crazy though… definitely going to feel this tomorrow.

Edit: stripset was 80 to 70 to 60 to 35 to BW

You strong.

I truly appreciate the compliment man, but I want to be a LOT stronger than I am right now haha.

Edit: I attached the quote from @aldebaran to say that, do you think that having minimal carbs throughout the day/week, until a lifting day, and then having plazma would make a difference? I am by no means a mass monster haha… but I think that my high energy work/lifestyle coupled with low carb eating would lead to a net benefit by adding carbs in pre/intra? I’m not versed whatsoever when it comes to supplementation, though.

So I’ve been tossing these ideas around in my little pea-brain lately. I decided to buy a couple bags of Plazma to try it out, and a couple bottles of Micro-PA. They will be here Friday, so that will be the starting point of a “test” block for additional supplements. I have been trying NOT to use supplements and just go hard with whole foods, and have been succeeding for the past year or so, but I don’t see the harm in trying them out for a couple of months on top of my standard diet. I’m not paying for a wedding anymore, so I’m able to be a little bit more free-willed with additional income.

I have a very good baseline as far as my body is concerned, as I eat very close to the same thing every day, when to expect DOMs, how long until I feel recovered between workouts/sets, and whether or not I feel strong before going into a workout.

I have been eating low carb for quite some time, so my thinking is that adding in carbs pre and intra will assist in additional energy for the main work, and intra would lead to better assistance work, which in turn would lead to better sessions all around. This should especially be true after working all day.

Micro PA makes some bold claims, but I am willing to give it a shot. I’m not going to work any less hard, and I am not going to lean on supplements to carry me through diet-wise.

Not sure how I feel about forking over money for possible “snake oil”, and if I feel any sort of gut distress I’m immediately going to discontinue use. I need to keep the food I eat IN my body since weight gain has been hard to come by. That means zero of the flavoring for Plazma due to the dye in it. I’m expecting to have to choke the shit down, but hopefully it doesn’t taste as bad as I think it’s going to.

I off and on use intra and its all sweet as you can imagine. I buy the unsweetened lemonade flavored koolaid packets and use that in there. It’s basically just citric acid. SO I get lemonade intra…basically.

Good idea man, I will give that a shot

Cool supp game plan - I imagine this is how its "supposed to be done " - get big and strong, push all the limits, know yourself, and THEN add things that might make you better.

They removed the coloring in the liquid flavors a few months ago.

Awesome, thanks @Chris_Colucci . Yes I will be a first time user, just not sure what to expect I guess. A lot of very strong people talk it up quite a bit. I am always slightly skeptical of things that sound too good to be true, but I will certainly give it a fair shake. I appreciate the help.
