That isn’t the video I was thinking but he starts talking about it a bit after the 3 minute mark.
So… New plan coming to fruition here in the next couple of months. I’m going to continue with Nuttys simple program for the next 5 weeks until vacation/honeymoon. Enjoy myself for two weeks in Hawaii with lots of hiking and exploring. I’m 99.99% sure I’ll drop a few lbs and perceive to lose some strength in the process.
Upon returning, I’m going to go head first into a strength program. My goals at this point are
135 for +10 reps/ 155 for 3-5 reps on OHP
225 for 5 reps on bench
405 for 5 reps on squat
455 for 3-5 on Deadlift
How?
I am going to be coached by a very good friend from my band/high school days. He has been lifting for 12 years and has placed first in many, many comps. +680 raw squat, +400 bench, +800 DL and +750 wrapped squat, all in comp. All of these were done at (I believe) 232lb or less, although he did get up to +250 for a while. His gym lifts are crazy as well. He has deadlifted something insane like 780 for a triple at 225.
He will be checking in daily, and actually lives right up the street from me so he may swing by for a session here and there if I’m having issues.
He programs in 8-12 week blocks, so I’ll start with 8 and we’ll feel out how I’m progressing and go from there. I am super excited to have the opportunity to try this out.
Gain strength-get conditioned-do deepwater. No way I can fail.

OHP at 115lb 8, 8, 8, 8, 4 + 4 Push press
BB row at 115lb 5x18
High incline DB press at 35lb 4x20

BB curl at bar 4x15, 1 set empty DB hammer curls close to failure after last set.
3 mins between main, 1.5 mins between fluff.
I felt pretty damn strong today. Press went much better than I thought it would. Last couple reps of push press were pretty grindy but I got them all locked out. I will stick with 115 next week to hopefully knock out all 5 sets of 8, then on to 120.

Had a very busy past couple of days, and going to have a busy weekend. On call last night, ended up getting up at 5 for work this AM. Got this done around 1030 this morning and just getting around to logging.
Warm ups felt heavy as hell so I opted to punish myself by squatting heavy… also as a little break from the volume on squats. I will end up dropping weight back down to 295 and going for 5x10 next week.
I’m going to add some food back in. Already looking leaner after these past couple of weeks I’ve been home which would be ok if I wasn’t trying to get stronger. Now is not the time to lose weight. I’d like to really destroy these next few weeks before going on vacation. Having a cheat meal tonight which should help my bench day tomorrow, shoulders willing.
@flappinit know how!
Yup! Plain’ old grill will work, just make sure the steak is fully room temperature. Might have to sit out an hour at least. Lots of salt and pepper, garlic powder optional, even Montreal steak seasoning can work. High heat for 3-4 minutes a side, move onto low heat and turn every 1-2 minutes.
Press your thumb and middle finger together firmly, but not super firm, and use your other hand to poke the “meat” below the thumb on that hand - when you poke the meat on the grill and it feels as squishy as that on both sides, take it off the grill and DO NOT TOUCH IT for 15 minutes MINIMUM, 20 is best.
You can also use a meat thermometer if you want, but I never do and mine always come out perfect. If you want it a tad more done, you’ll want to take it off when it feels like the meat on your hand with the ring finger and thumb touching.
The biggest part is letting it sit. You can take an absolutely beautiful medium rare steak and reduce it to a dry piece of shit by not cutting it, and you can slightly overcook it (for my taste) but if you let it sit long enough you’ll have a juicy medium steak.
@anna_5588 thanks for the hook up!
@flappinit wow man, that looks outstanding. I’ll be lucky to get it half as good as that, but I’ll be sure to follow your instructions. Thank you dude
This stuff is the ultimate meat hack!
Cheat meal
I had baked Mac and cheese with buffalo seasoned fried chicken, wifey had fried catfish and cheese grits with Texas toast and a seafood butter.
I got through about 3/4 of it and had to stop. I’m bloated and I feel absolutely disgusting haha. This is why I don’t eat carbs…
I find I can eat much more meat than carbs
Absolutely. Any significant amount of carbs for whatever reason seem to just become a rock in my stomach. I hate the feeling of it and it lasts for hours. I regret it every. Single. Time.

Didn’t feel too strong today, but did better than last week. Deadlifts tomorrow at some point.
Worked again this morning, got up around 530. Hopefully I’ll have a full day off tomorrow.
That’s the joy of carbs, the magic comes after carrying on because although you’re disgustingly full, carbs are irresistible, then passing out on the sofa in a food coma.
Not sure I’ve ever regretted eat carbs. I love carbs!!!
Serious question, what happens if you want to eat it hot? You put it back on the grill briefly? Your steaks look amazing!
A steak that big should not get cold after 20min of sitting out at a reasonable room temp or hotter
It’ll actually be the perfect temp for eating! no tongue burn risk!
If you were doing a smaller steak in a pan, you could reheat the fat left over and pour it back over the steak
As Anna said, it’s not gonna get cold. It’s still cooking internally, and it’s reabsorbing all the lovely juices during that time. You can keep it in a warming tray or something, but you don’t want to cover it up with foil - you’ll end up steaming it and overcooking it that way.
You’ll notice in nice restaurants, some food comes out piping hot, but steak comes out nice and warm - you’re not gonna burn your mouth on it.
Yes, bro. Pasta, rice, good bread, pizza, doughnuts, pastries, cereal, fries, chips, it goes on and on. Carbs are the best macro.
You were pushing them pretty hard on my log for a while there ![]()
I must say, I’ve gone back to pre-bed honey and it really seems to help sleep
Great thanks @flappinit and @anna_5588 - I suck at cooking steak, so I never do, only eat it when I’m out and that’s rare (just like my steak).
Just so so true!
