Boilerman Wants It All

Good times man. I’m thinking about running it again soon. Just because. It also re-enforces something I like. The warrior mentally. But you did DW so you got that.

For now, I’m sure it’ll fade and I’ll need a boot in the ass at some point soon.

High bar squats, talon grip

135x5
205x3
245x1
285x1
315x1
345x1
375x1 (5lb PR)

Wanted to get some squats in before leaving. Stopped at 375 due to a nose bleed, felt like I had quite a bit more in me.

Awesome work.
Cool music too, is that the Stones?
Incongruous but cool.

Ya man, The Stones have been shoved down my throat for as long as I can remember by my dad. I used to hate them when I was a kid… but now a few of their albums are on my all time greatest list.

Haha, true… I do tend to wander quite a bit from my ambient and metal roots though. My Spotify playlists are just a mess.

Edit: and I believe I misinterpreted this, haha. Are you saying the stones don’t really “belong” in a workout?

Thanks! I most certainly will. I may post up a couple workouts here while I’m away. The place we rented has a gym in it so I may hit it a couple times if I have an hour to kill

Just not what one expects a) in a heavy lift session or b) in a boilerman session. Belong? That’s in the ear of the lifter.

Congratulations again, best wishes for you and your bride!

Nuttys simple program

W1D1

Deadlift 5x5 at 345lb
HLR 5x10

Front squat at 145lb x 9,5,5,3
Pull up x 10,7,6,5

Back ext 4x10
Db Lunge at 30lb ea hand 4x10 ea leg

2 min rest between main movement superset, 90 seconds between supplemental stuff. Rested enough to set up gear between supersets. Sweating my ass off. When all is said and done, warmups and work took an hour on the dot.

Movements are subject to change frequently. Hated every second of front squats and I ended up getting a bicep cramp somehow on the third set. I’m going to try my best to get form down on them, which will involve a lot of firearm stretches and mobility work. Super dehydrated and carbed up. Back to the routine starting today.

So, I have some free time this morning to do an update. Got back vacation late Sunday night, had a very very busy day Monday with multiple appointment and took yesterday off work to try and catch up on sleep (yeah right), lift, dentist appointment and do some work around the house.

The wedding was incredible. I had a ton of fun and it was a beautiful day. I was drinking pretty heavily throughout the week leading up to the wedding and eating was terrible. I would eat breakfast and dinner, both with a good amount of carbs and not nearly enough meat/protein, but that’s fine. I didn’t want to spend more time in the kitchen just to please my weird eating habits… I’d rather spend time with family and friends and eat whatever we decided to have that day.

Didn’t end up reading super squats as I drove 14 hours down and 11 hours back, so no time. Didn’t have any real down time either so I will read the book when I have some free time here at home.

I chose to run nuttys simple program due to the flexibility of it. 4 days of lifting and I want at LEAST one additional day of conditioning minimum a week. Some of the supplemental stuff will be changing here and there, and I’d like to replace some of it with @T3hPwnisher “finishers” in there, namely the belt squat strip set or Juarez valley stuff.

I’m starting by progressing both upper body and lower body weekly, and once I start to stall I’ll make sure to hit numbers for two weeks before adding weight. I may adjust rep ranges as well for a few things, we’ll see. Sore as hell today but it feels good. Can’t wait to be back in a routine.

Congratulations on the wedding. Good to hear that it’s been a wonderful time! Accomodating your lifting lifestlye should really be the least of your concerns there, haha.

Strict press 5x6 @ 115lb (last 2 reps push press)
BB row @ 115lb 5x15

High incline DB press at 35lb 4x15
NG chins @ bw +25lb x 5,5,4,4

BW dips x 16, 13, 11, 10
BB curl @ bar weight x 10, 10, 10, 25

One set of band lateral raises to a decent pump

Again, done in just about an hour. I think I could’ve been done more quickly if set up didn’t take me forever. Getting between inclines and weighted chins was a pain. Overall good session and sweat was pouring off of me, but my shoulders still feel off.

I always feel shitty after a deload, so I’m hoping this sparks a little bit of a fire under my ass and I kick it into high gear these next few weeks. It’s promising since these numbers I’m putting up are the best I’ve done so far I believe, so some improvement has happened recently. I’m planning on destroying the weights until I leave in July.

Food for today

Wake
Protein and milk (small amount)

645 am
2 eggs, 4 slices bacon

10 am
Sugar free beef sticks

1 pm
10 oz 93/7 ground with hot sauce

8 pm
1.25 lb sirloin tips
1 poblano
1/4 onion, diced
1/8 stick butter, seasoned with chili lime and garlic fajita seasoning and a small amount of cayenne
Small side salad

Thanks man! Yeah it really was amazing, I might throw up a few pics of the place we stayed/got married because it blew my mind how gorgeous it was. We checked it out a couple years ago and I forgot how crazy it was.

As far as the lifting thing is concerned, you’re right haha. She puts up with a lot of shit from me and I am extremely lucky she does, and loves me for the stupid things I do haha.

I was wondering the same thing when I had a life deload a couple weeks back. I jumped back in and had to nearly fully reset. You are supposed to be fresher but…I’m like an old truck I guess. I just take a while to get running.

Congrats on the wedding.

Yeah man, I don’t think I’ve ever had a deload that has made me feel better coming back that first week or two, eventually I find the groove but it takes a while.

Thanks!

I’m the same way with deloads. Glad the wedding went well.

Cool to see you keeping up the Deep Water eating dude. You’re going to absolutely crush whatever is in front of you training wise. Definitely let me know how those Juarez valley squats work out for you.

As for deloads, I do better just taking time off. I like to take the approach of doing some sort of insane workout right before a deload so that I NEED a week to heal.

Yeah it seems like there are quite a few people on the forums who feel the same way. I can’t remember the last time I just took an entire week off either. It felt wrong haha. Also, thanks!

Thanks man, yeah I don’t see myself being happy eating any other way at this point. The diet just clicks with me. Prep and cooking time isn’t crazy either.

As far as training, I’m really hoping to make some good strength gains through the summer… I hope adding some intensity back in isn’t going to bite me in the ass but time will tell. I need to get my numbers up. After the progress I made on deepwater it’s going to be tough for other programs to measure up. I definitely am planning on running super squats when time allows though… And running your hypertrophy block this coming fall

I know it doesn’t work this way after just a week off, but I feel almost detrained coming back. I’m extremely sore right now after just two lifting days haha.

5 min amrap bag over shoulder at 120lb

Didn’t count, I know I can do better than this though. So sweaty and out of breath.
