Boilerman Wants It All

Deffo option 3.

Option 3. I don’t think you’ve deloaded in awhile either, so you could be pleasantly surprised when you return.

Edit: Your log makes Deep Water more and more tempting. I’m excited for a full review from you!

Option 3. I think the wedding/vacation food might help too

Thanks everybody for weighing in! So it looks like I’ll be finishing up the program after returning. I’ll have to dig back through the log and re read some of the modifications @T3hPwnisher did for the remaining 3 weeks.
I don’t see myself doing front squat press or squat cleans.

I’m not so sure I’m really talking it up very well haha. I complained a good amount. Have you seen my post in the BSL section? I did a fairly detailed review of both beginners and intermediate. I’ll probably add some finishing thoughts to that, or just here in my log after advanced is finished.

I must say… the 12 weeks of beginners and intermediate were so far beyond the difficulty level I was anticipating BUT I saw more physical progress in those 12 weeks than I have seen in any 6 MONTH time period prior. It instantly gives you something in return for working hard, and something to keep working for.

I’m hoping so. I still haven’t figured my deloads out and I usually come back feeling shittier than when I start haha.

I’m going to be controversial and say option 2. Crush it for all it’s worth and be done with it. DON’T have f**king Deep Water on your mind during your honeymoon.

I’m now curious, does this mean you were totally oblivious to your wedding plans and didn’t know the date? Whilst it would be natural to assume otherwise it’s funnier for me to assume so, feel free not to correct me.

Also option 3, just cos everyone else said so.

Yep, it was great! Looking forward to your results after the advanced, even if they’re not as long.

That’s why it’s so tempting, even if you did complain about it. Plus you got to practice your food photography skills

I was assuming I had 2 weeks left, which meant one more week of power cleans and another week of squats, but in my infinite wisdom… I screwed up. Too much stuff going on right now for me to keep my head on straight haha.

I’ve been so excited for the day this happens. It’s going to feel pretty liberating.

I was thinking about possibly running through it again after advanced, but I just can’t do the 1 1/2 hour sessions anymore. My lovely fiancee has been super understanding about what I’ve been doing but I honestly feel bad about taking so much time to myself.
I hear what you’re saying about not thinking about deepwater during the “honeymoon” (going on a honeymoon later this summer, but honeymoon period, anyhow).

I may just do deadlifts on Friday, keep the rest of the weekend as written and do a deepwater power clean day on Monday. I’ll assess when I get back about how I’m feeling. Knowing myself, I’ll want to finish it…

I probably sound like a broken record at this point… Run it. I didn’t think I was ready to run it and I’m pissed I didn’t sooner. If you have the time carved out and a plan for the food, it’s just going out and lifting shit over and over and over again. At least beginner and intermediate. I think I’ve mentioned this before but I’d like to make it a block of training I do every year.

Get stronger-do deepwater-get better conditioning- get stronger etc etc…

I can see why it would be a bad idea to try it haphazardly, hahaha. I’ve skimmed the book a bit but also wouldn’t be able to do incline bench or back extensions.

Either way, glad the suffering worked out well for you!

Yeah, I almost screwed myself over at the beginning by not planning the food properly. Thankfully I was able to turn it around.

I did some work arounds for back extensions using my bench and weighing my feet down with plates haha. Kind of a weird set up but it worked.

Listen to this man @boilerman

You’ll be wanting to get deep in something wet on your honeymoon and it won’t be fucking water.

Unleash that iron fuelled physique on your wife my man. Savour it

Yeah man, I’ll see how I’m doing after the week off. We’re heading straight back to work so it’s not going to feel like a honeymoon haha.

To add to the previous post… My boss is retiring May 31. That leaves me as the sole service tech, but he may come back part time… one day a week. He’s almost 72 so it’s about time he gets the hell out but I’m feeling like he’s kind of left me hanging without backup.

The company has been searching for some sort of replacement or apprentice to shadow me for a little while but there has been zero interest from anyone. We’ve combed the local community colleges and I have even tried poaching from other local companies but have come up empty handed. This summer is going to be BRUTAL if the warm weather hits hard and quick.

Also, got a very scary text yesterday. My brother has a roofing business that he’s been doing well with for about 8-9 years now. He’s a pro on the roof and does most of his work on the old houses in the city, 3-4 story monsters that are steep as hell.

I got the text, opened up my phone to check it and read the first sentence and immediately shut my phone off because I didn’t want to read the rest. It took me a few minutes to get the courage to actually read the text.

He fell off a ladder, no idea how high, and landed on his arm. Ended up fracturing his elbow, stitches, x rays, CT scans the whole 9 yards. He might need surgery as well. It could’ve been so much worse and I’m extremely grateful he is alright. It kind of put me in a weird mood yesterday, thinking he could’ve fucking died. One second he would’ve been alive, the next, gone.

Puts into perspective the importance of not being complacent with work and confidence in your abilities. Once you start feeling safe, accidents happen. Kind of a weird ramble but I have to remind myself to be safe. I’ve been working too quickly and I need to step back and relax. I work around a lot of high voltage, 230 and 460, and have no problem sticking my hands into live boxes. I should have a huge problem with that.

Yeah man you’re only going to have one honeymoon… So just enjoy it at the fullest.

This is so fucking important. An acquaintance of mine fell from a roof doing some tasks up there that he performed a million times before on his 60th birthday. He landed with this head on the entry stairs to the house. Left a wife and two kids behind (one of which a close friend of mine).
That was a real shock and I think none of us who knew him will ever disregard safety for manual labor again.

Best of luck to your brother!

Yeah man, definitely. We’re getting married in a couple Saturdays, then I’m going back to work Tuesday… Sunday will be a 14 hour drive back to NY so I’m not going to have a whole lot of honeymooning to do. We’re doing a vacation in July which will be our “honeymoon”.

It’s so crazy that it gets pushed to the back of our minds so easily. The job is the most important thing at that moment, safety be damned. I’m absolutely guilty of thinking that way too. It shouldn’t be that way though. That’s a very sad story and I’m really sorry for the loss of your friend, it is really shitty that stuff like that happens… My brother is extremely lucky…

Thanks man

Dinner was a ribeye, homemade garlic parmesan fries and blue cheese. I can’t remember my last carb cheat but it must’ve been around 3 weeks ago?
