Great stuff man

That’s so wholesome ahah!

Jee whizz yeah you probably will cause you’re strong willed MOFO but still this was a really good performance…

Me, it helps a bit, I use it when I do PRs, probably will use it a bit more. We underestimate a good leg drive, a good core tightness, and also sometimes my lats are completely destroyed by bench

Thanks dude!

Thank you! As @aldebaran said it helps a little bit I think. I just started doing it with deepwater though, so not really super heavy stuff. I like wearing a belt on most things because it helps me actually feel the brace better… I’m not actually bracing into the belt on bench because of the way my torso is situated so it’s not doing a whole lot, but it’s just a little reminder to keep everything super tight and locked in.

Haha thanks man. Shooting for 30+ next round if I manage 385x5 again. I may shoot for a higher 5 rep weight so it’ll be more like 265lb on the amrap… fingers crossed.

I should be able to do it though. I’m feeling pretty damn strong right now somehow, considering my eating has been dialed back quite a decent amount back from ~a month ago. Just have to be smart about it.

Power clean

95x5
115x5
135x5
160x5
185x0 (see notes and video)
135x23
70x43

Planks and sit ups

Went for 185 on powercleans-… it seemed like the strength was there but the technique was not, so I didn’t end up counting any of them as reps.

My forearms were pumped as hell by the end of the Deepwater stuff, and conditioning was the main reason why I stopped. My lungs were on fire. Again, still not quite where I’d like to be this first week, but there is room for improvement.

Got my second shot today at 11am, my shoulder is pretty sore right now… but tbh I’m kind of used to it. It feels like a couple days after a deepwater press day… which it actually is.

I still feel as though I’m putting on muscle right now, and leaning out. My old belt, which I used today, is loose on the third hole. That hasn’t happened since I first got it. Also, it may just be a residual pump from the past couple days but my chest, biceps triceps and back feel huge (to me). I like it.

Awesome amount of work.
20+ and 40+ reps of power cleans are beyond any normal person’s mental ability.
I’m not criticizing and lol I don’t even do power cleans so BIG grain of salt, but as @aldebaran said before, you are keeping your elbows bent during the pull, basically putting you in an isometric bicep curl the whole way up. Locking out your elbows and thinking of your arms as chains (thus straightening under tension) might help you load more.
But again, 23 and 43 reps… nuff said…

Yeah man, I just re-watched the video and I see what you’re saying 100%. I’m finding it really difficult to think about everything all at once when the first pull happens. Initially all I’m thinking about is just pushing the floor away as hard as I possibly can, and then just surviving.

Once DW is over I’m definitely going to drop the weight back and do a run through of all the tips both you and @aldebaran have given to get my form actually halfway decent. I think I could move a good amount of weight on them if my form was less awful, but it seems like way more of a technical lift than I’m used to. I just try to power through everything, form be damned.

I have only a couple weeks left before I have a week off so I’m just going to push through to my finish line I have set for myself… if anything it just means more bicep gains I guess haha.

Dude, I tried push press today. Basically the first time. Fourth rep of 135 something really scary happened, not sure how to describe it… but same thing, I could do much more weight but my technique is way off and limiting me.

Yup!!

Yeah man exactly. Just not being able to get your body in the position that you want/are telling it to. Such a strange feeling. Awesome job BTW dude. You have a 135 strict press in the bag for sure!

Conditioning

5 empty (83lb) log viper, EMOM 12 minutes

Started and finished with 25 BPA

Breathing heavy and sweating, so it’s doing what it’s supposed to do.

Planning on filling up my second sandbag this week sometime. I have to re-weigh the one I filled last summer so I can have one heavy bag and one light. It’d be nice to rotate 3-4 different conditioning routines 1-2 times a week just have to get some ideas together. Might look back through powerbuilder and choose a couple.

Arm I got the shot in yesterday is in some serious discomfort but the log felt good. I can already tell I love that thing.

Went to bed at 206lb last night. I’ll probably start taking morning weights once or twice a week to mark progress, but I’m not terribly concerned with where I end up. Only have 3ish weeks of calorie restriction planned so I’m not holding my breath for some huge transformation.

I think it’d be pretty cool to see 19_ on the scale though. Haven’t weighed under 200lbs in a while.

Again, I don’t feel like I did as well as I should have. I’m definitely disappointed in the 225 DW set as I know that I have more in me but my legs were just not cooperating. I’ve hit 245x20 before so I was thinking a 30 rep set would be in the cards today. Hitting 345x5 should’ve looked better too, they were ugly reps.

A lot of factors at play here, the main one being the calorie deficit I think. Also, that second cov shot has put me on my ass since Wednesday morning. I’ve still been going to work but muscle pains and fatigue have been killing me.

I’m still holding strong on the deficit for a few more weeks but am honestly looking forward to gaining again. I feel like I was in such a good groove these past 12 weeks and it feels wrong to put a halt to it but I made the choice so I’m sticking with it. Looking and feeling leaner already.

I don’t think those numbers are anything to scoff at, especially considering the deficit and feeling lousy from the vaccine. Looks brutal.

Thanks, I guess I just expect more from myself. Feels like a lot of build up these past 12 weeks to culminate in being disappointed in my performance. Just tough to stomach after the fact, thinking I could’ve done better.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but there’s no deload between Beginner and Intermediate, right? You’ve been doing a lot of work, so I don’t think feeling beat up at some point is unexpected. I bet the build up will show itself even better when you move onto Brian’s program.

Yeah I haven’t deloaded in about 14 weeks. I honestly haven’t felt the need to up until now.

I hope so!
