That’s so exciting! One of the things that makes me happiest is when my little buddy wants to come out and lift with me. So happy for you!

Another quick lifting update-

My legs are absolutely useless today. The muscles in my hips are absolutely fried, and I can tell my quads are going to be in some serious pain tomorrow.

Already went into work for a couple hours, swing home for a new bed delivery for my wife and I (the bed we have been using was a queen size from when my wife was 16, so it’s 17 years old…). We bought a king, and as a matter of fact, this will be the first new bed I’ve ever used in my entire life. Growing up I had hand-me-down twin size, where I could barely fit, even with my narrow ass. My feet don’t even hang off the end of the new bed!

Heading back to work to take care of some drywall and shoveling/sidewalks, then deepwater back day later.

I have a bone-in ribeye seasoning in the refrigerator. Might end up grilling it if the snow holds out until later.

Conditioning

5 minute warm up, medium pace

Tabata Bike Sprints, 8 rounds
Max HHTBDL at 225lb x 24
Max HHTBDL at 135lb x 29
4 minute cooldown on bike, medium pace
As long as possible all out sprint on bike
Probably 55 seconds of dying and attempting to coast on bike (just kidding, probably around 40-45 seconds)
Limp away from bike
AMRAP Tempo DB retraction row (5 second holds) x 24

In all, about 22 minutes of work. All “rests” on TBDLs were done at the top without straps. I was shaking so much it felt like I was seizing, which was a very odd feeling. It was like I couldn’t lock my knees out. I’ve had that happen on a few max straight bar deadlifts, but never on the trap bar.

All in all, I hated it.

I spent 3 hours yesterday and 2.5 hours today shoveling wet snow. Might hit some conditioning later today after work.

I wanted to get some thoughts down and reflect on how I’m feeling currently.

I am full. I am so sick and tired of eating. I have one week left of deepwater before I can ease off the gas for a week or even possibly two. I’m going to hit some heavy ass weights, and then get back to the grind for another short (probably 6 week) gaining program.

I’m excited to see what I’ve built over these past few months. I’m obviously feeling much bigger than I had previously, but not just in a I-weigh-12lbs-more-than-I-normally-do kind of way. I’ve put on some fat, but I can feel the muscle getting ready to pop out when I lean up a bit.

This is the way I need to work things from now on. Slam a ridiculous amount of food and volume for a few months, and be alright with being horribly uncomfortable for a bit.

Start of the final week of beginners. Celebrating my better half’s birthday today with her family. I’m going to smash some enchiladas from a very good Mexican restaurant tonight, and then I’m taking her out for a Spanish/American dinner tomorrow night at her favorite place. Probably going to get some calamari, fried crickets and a big steak. 230 here I come.

As I wrote in the transformation thread- I weighed 224lb this morning. I also feel less fluffy today than I have in the past few weeks. Good things happening.

Pushed all of these sets super hard today. Very happy with my output.

Added 5lbs to each DB for strict press and crushed it. That makes me concerned about undershooting this entire 6 weeks of pressing. I think I’ll have a positive outlook and say that the 5 weeks up to this allowed me to hit those weights. It definitely wasn’t easy.

One bench day and one conditioning day before DW is wrapped up for now. I’m so happy I ran this.
