Excited to read about dude! You did the “diet break” I’ve talked about. And it had the intended effect: you WANT to get back on the program now. If you ever get a chance to read “The Complete Keys to Progress”, John McCallum wrote about this as a “softening up” process. It worked decades ago, and it works today too.
Thanks dude I’ll definitely check that out
Yeah this is definitely what’s happening. Not quite was I was expecting having a hard “ok that’s enough” but I know myself well enough that continuing to push the diet any further won’t be good for anybody, haha.

4 fairly urgent phone calls throughout this today, so my head wasn’t quite in it. Pushed hard on the CGBP stuff, but overall just feeling exhausted the past few days. Not exactly sure what’s going on, but I think the change in diet is going to help.
That’s a lot of benching, my man—particularly if you’re already feeling run down. Keep up the good work!
Yeah man. Trying to find something to get my bench strength moving in any direction but complete stagnation, haha. I don’t care that much about it, but it’d be nice to actually see some progress…
I’ve mentioned this before- I don’t know what the hell I’m doing, so my answer to pretty much everything is more volume and try harder.
Christ, dude. Ouch.
Another vote for ‘Complete Keys’. I think it might be my favorite training related book I’ve read.
Awesome dude, I bought it last night on Kindle and am hoping to start digging into it within the next few days!

Traps were already pretty spicy after deadlifts so I decided to lean into it a bit and totally destroy them.
I’m digging through The Complete Keys to Progress slowly but surely and taking my time trying to retain as much information as possible. So far I’m really enjoying it. It all makes sense to me. Work hard, squat heavy and eat well.
I haven’t done a picture update in a while.
First pic is from November 6th, second is from last Friday. I’m feeling pretty good about the aesthetic gains, even with maybe some additional fat? I definitely feel like I’ve been putting on some muscle though.

It’s been a little bit less than normal past few days, but I had planned all of it. No lifting or conditioning and diet has been so-so. Still getting food in, but not as much as usual.
Sunday was a concert in Buffalo at the river works. The opener was Foxing and headliner was Manchester Orchestra. I can’t remember the last time I was legitimately blown away by a live show. They played some older stuff and the majority of their new album. The sound was spot on, I love that venue.
Last night was coheed and Cambria in Rochester. It was a great show, but I’ve seen them so many times that I kind of knew what to expect from them. They always put on a great show, but the crowd was kind of a pain in the ass. There were a ton of people packed up to the front, but it wasn’t crazy like it normally is. Kind of a bummer. People just standing around clapping. I ended up leaving a bit early because it was almost identical to the set the last time I saw them.
Squatting after work today, I think. I might try to take a quick nap too. I’m super tired.
Glad you were able to enjoy yourself boilerman!
Thank you dude, it was nice to break the monotony and see some friends I haven’t seen in a long time. We had 4 out of 5 band members together, so it was pretty awesome.

Hitting axle curls tomorrow after work, and maybe a quick conditioning session. Started this late and was starving by the end of it.
I’m dropping GVT, it just wasn’t really interesting to me. I feel like I’ve been bouncing around quite a bit lately… but whatever. I just want to find something that I am 100% committed to that isn’t deepwater. This was pretty awesome and has a lot of room for progress.
Is that from keys to progress?
Yup it is. It’s within the first few chapters of the book, which is the point I’ve read to. I’m still slowly digging through it, so I’m sure there are more to come.

Dinner is going to be a ribeye, 10 chicken wings, broccoli, some air fried french fries, pineapple and a salad.
Not sure what’s more impressive: 250 curls or your dinner! Keep it up, my man.
