You’d have to be pretty naive to think that there are no gay bodybuilders. Bodybuilding is all about improving the aesthetics of the male physique. Men are more attracted to muscle than women - you do the math.

I proposed that theory a while ago and got slammed. But it’s true. MOST Women want a lean guy (um, the BP look, sorry, had to say it). Guys want 20" arms and huge pecs. Guys are more likely to be impressed with another guys huge muscles than women are. Has nothing to do with the gay thing. I don’t think people see bodybuilding as “gay” but something narcisistic (did I spell that right) and self-obsessive.

It’s the truth. Women prefer guys who are lean and athletic. Every time there is a picture of a bodybuilder, girls always comment on how gross they look.

I have a buddy who is freakin huge and ripped. I would love to look like him (in a completely straight, non-manloving kind of way). He goes to bars with the tight shirts and biceps stretching the seams and all that. It’s the dudes who always come up and comment on his body, not the ladies.

I thought part of the reason people are into bodybuilding is to look good? If men are “just” attracted to big muscles, then why aren’t we attracted those shemale bodybuilders?

Im with you on this and id like to add a point of my own. I think bodybuilders that go for the Arnold look are the gay ones, the ones that have no life outside of the gym, that shoot up all the time to get even closer to not fitting through the doorway. Bodybuilding is not a contest to see how many hormones you can shoot up or how big your veins can get. Women hate that shit. I still think women like muscle mor than men, theres no way a woman would take a muscleless flab of skin over somebody with muscle and a low bodyfat percentage. Bodybuilding is acheiving a symmetric lean body that is clean and in shape. Am I right?

i get the strong feeling that the guys who think bbing is gay are tiny, only a skinny biatch would say something like that. i don’t know about the rest of you, but i don’t lift for the chicks. i do it for myself, i already have a girl. somehow being large has never hampered my success with the women folk, and i have never been mistaken for a fag. besides, the brad pits are more frequently gay than the ronnie colemans. has anybody ever met a coleman sized gay guy? i never have.
When i managed a Gold’s Gym i saw plenty of gay members. It was rather funny, because there were plenty of homophobic trainers and members. In fact as a joke i used to schedule the obvious gay members orientations with the most homophobic trainers…Ahh, the good times.
but in general i have to agree, anywhere, where there will be men building their bodies there will be plenty of gay men dogin the same, and some are very large and muscular, easily in the 250’s and ripped. Not your stereotypical skinny gay guys by far.

Nolecat: Women say bodybuilders look gross, but that’s because contest-shape pro bodybuilders, which are the ones they’re probably being shown pictures of, look gross. But that’s the striations and the vascularity and the obvious unnaturalism of it. I’ve heard women commenting about guys with muscle alot more than about skinny guys, other than to say, “tell that skinny guy to put a shirt on”. For some reason I know alot of skinny guys that go shirtless often, but that’s beside the point.
