Bodybuilding is Gay!

Men are more attracted to muscle than women - you do the math.
Has nothing to do with the gay thing. I don’t think people see bodybuilding as “gay” but something narcisistic (did I spell that right) and self-obsessive.

Im with you on this and id like to add a point of my own. I think bodybuilders that go for the Arnold look are the gay ones, the ones that have no life outside of the gym, that shoot up all the time to get even closer to not fitting through the doorway. Bodybuilding is not a contest to see how many hormones you can shoot up or how big your veins can get. Women hate that shit. I still think women like muscle mor than men, theres no way a woman would take a muscleless flab of skin over somebody with muscle and a low bodyfat percentage. Bodybuilding is acheiving a symmetric lean body that is clean and in shape. Am I right?
What is with the stereotypes? So every bodybuilder who takes it to an extreme is more likely to be gay? How did you come up with this? Personal studies? I guess you’d know then, huh?

Where did this skinny gay guy image comes from? In New York City, they come in all sizes and shapes. In fact, there’s always lot more big guys in predominantly gay gyms then predominantly straight gyms any day. As another poster wrote previously, lot of these gay guys are easily 250+ ripped. Gay guys worship gym bodies, and not just any gym bodies - they want lots of muscles with clear 6 packs.

When i managed a Gold’s Gym i saw plenty of gay members. It was rather funny, because there were plenty of homophobic trainers and members. In fact as a joke i used to schedule the obvious gay members orientations with the most homophobic trainers…Ahh, the good times.
Haha, that’s the funniest thing I’ve heard in a while. I just hope it didn’t get ugly for any of the customers, though most of the openly gay people I know just kinda laugh at the trainer if something came up. Seems homophobic people are some of the most insecure people I’ve ever met.

I don’t understand where people get this idea of “The gays like X body type and look like Y.” They’re all different, just like straight folks…

My gym is upscale/profressional and there are a lot of gay dudes there. It seems like most of them are lean and thin. Of course, since they seem to spend most of the time talking to each other or on the treadmill, that not so surprizing. It’s probably different in Chelsea or at a truly gay gym. Mine just seems that way.

i would say california is more likely to have the most gay dudes(i wish it was not so) and i have never met a 250lb gay guy, i’m sure they exist and all but are there really that many? all the gay guys i have seen/met are either kinda fat, or skinny.

So, in other words, they look exactly the same as regular guys. Why is this so hard for people to understand?

Sydney is second to San Fran for gay populations. There is a syndrome here where people believe all gay guys are big and cut due to the yearly gay mardi gras televised live on tv. I work in a gym and the number of 200+ guys is the other way around i reckon. straight guys tend to want to get bigger whereas the majority of gay guys just want to be ripped…like brad pitt. Therefore, in conclusion, if you want to look like brad pitt you are something something something…

I have a buddy who is freakin huge and ripped. I would love to look like him (in a completely straight, non-manloving kind of way). He goes to bars with the tight shirts and biceps stretching the seams and all that. It’s the dudes who always come up and comment on his body, not the ladies.

Another reason I think guys like it better is that they have some inkling of an idea of what it takes to build up like that, whereas women are generally more clueless. “Veins? Grooooss! That is SO, nast!” Also, like you say, guys want to BE built like that.

As far as gay goes, I've seen big gay dudes, and I've seen skinny and fat gay dudes. You usually can't tell by looking. Usually. They don't ALL act like damn fairies.

besides, the brad pits are more frequently gay than the ronnie colemans. has anybody ever met a coleman sized gay guy? i never have.
That’s a ridiculous prejudice. At a gym I used to work at in DC, two of the biggest guys there were homosexuals. There was also a gay guy who was on the small side. Why would a person’s sexual preference have an impact on there size? Or conversely, why would their size have an impact on their sexual preference?

Yeah - I’m not huge, by any means, at 5’9" 190lbs, but when I go clubbing I get a lot more attention from guys (straight and gay) than from women - as far as turning heads and people patting me on the back/tris/shoulders.
