I am competing in my first show September 20th. It is an INBF show. I am starting my dieting May 26th, for 16 weeks.

Currently, I am 5’9 and 237, around 12-13% bf. I’d like to be around 210. I was thinking about starting my own contest prep thread, but stumbled onto this one. I never thought about competing until last year. I’ve always been big, almost 290 at one point, but I’d like to finally see how I’d look with a lower bf. I am currently the leanest I can remember being in the past 7 years.

5’9" @ 210 would be huge. What is your diet like?

My diet now, as I’m trying to cut down? Or when I’ve been bulking for the last 10 years? lol.

I never knew I was “bulking” by eating large amounts of good food. I just add mass, both fat and muscle, real easily depending on what I eat. I never had a protein shake until I was in my 20’s. I’m 25 now. But as I grew up I ate large amounts of red meats, pasta, and junk too. I’ve always been big, just not lean.[/quote]

I meant now while you are cutting. Do you do any cardio?

I eat the same thing every weekday.

Meal 1
1 c Oats
55g Whey Shake

Meal 2
1 can of tuna
3oz Almonds
1 tbsp Natty PB

Pre Workout
48g Whey

Post
68g Whey

Meal 5
8oz Chicken Breast
1c Spinach or Broccoli

Meal 6
1c Lowfat Cottage Cheese
3oz Almonds

Meal 7
30g Casein
30g Whey

Fish oil, CLA, Multi, Glutamine are additional supps

Weekends I add more complex carbs like brown rice and eggs. I also have a dirty meal.

As for cardio I do 30-40 minutes of the stairmaster 4x a week. An hour on Saturday and Wednesday. Sundays I do sprints up a 70 pitch hill, walking back down. I’ll be adding more once we get to 16 weeks out.

On another note, my advisor wants me to get down to 190. I’m not so sure I can even get down to that but I guess I’ll follow his direction.

Looks good.

I wouldn’t get to hung up on what you weigh. It really won’t matter given your size and muscle mass you would look huge at 190 if you got peeled!

Keep us updated.

If I start a log, which forum should I do it in? Training Logs or Bodybuilding?

Update… I am now 6 weeks out and took a couple pics.

one more

Starting to look tight. What’re the numbers looking like?

S

I weighed in at 189 this morning. I do not know bf %.

Your back is looking huge Stu!

Thanks bro. Down to 195 and hoping to hit 190 or possibly 185 if things keep going the way they have been

You’ve probably got a lot mroe experience than I do with the #'s, but I’m trying to focus more on bi weekly pics than what the scale says.

S

I do the same thing. Take pics evey week and make sure things are going in the right direction.

I will hit the stage about 178-180.

Stu are you planning to do a show?

I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t in the far back of my brain, but I’m not comitting to anything until I see the type of condition I can achieve. I’ve been over 200 for years now, and I now that anything close to ‘contest shape’ for my height would be around 175, so I wanna see what 185/190 looks like and then decide.

S

zaydadog, looking great. Nice hams. Good luck, but as Chris Shugart says, a man makes his own luck.

Stu from the looks of your pics you are on the right track!

Thanks Rephore. Hopefully I will be making some luck.

I have a ocb show coming up in November. This is going to be my first show so I am not really sure what to expect of it. I am currently 6’2 215lbs. I was 230 at 14% bf but now down to 215 at 8%. Just got it test over the weekend. I am thinking I will weigh in at around the mid 190s or maybe higher. Not sure yet only time will tell.

good luck. Where is the show?

Mid 190’s in contest shape sounds damn impressive. Still, the mirror always trumps what the numbers say. ANy progress pics?

S

The show is in DeKalb,IL. NIU Alum represent. I will get some before and now pics later today. I am at work so its kind of difficult to get that done.

Just posted some pics in my profile. No leg shots however. Even if I did post leg pics you couldnt see any muscle behind the hair.

I’m doing the Southern States teen class and the Teen nationals the week after.
