Greg, have you ever had any impingement issues? I used to do upright rows all the time, but I don’t exactly have a healthy shoulder anymore.

Have fun in Santa Cruz. I’ll be there too, but trying to carry 300lbs in each hand not having fun on the beach.

Ct- Hopefully I’ll be hitting 225 soon. You’re right though… I think my traps will explode cause they’ve got crazy sore from that circuit.

Nikki- hahaha yeah those were DB curls. My curling strength is kinda weak (compared to a lot of the other guys around here) but its getting up there a bit which i’m happy about.

HeavyTriple- thanks for checking my log man. That circuit is pretty good. You should check it out. I dont ever do any upright rows but I didnt have shoulder surgery about a year and a half ago. I tore my labrum when I was on my last deployment and had to have surgery to repair it. I still have some limitations with my overhead pressing (no barbell really) but besides that I’m good for almost everything else. Are you doing any rehab/prehab for your shoulders? Do you know what exactly is wrong with your shoulder? I might have some info that could help out. let me know whats up.

Kalle- You were up in Santa Cruz? Were you doing another strongman comp? Dude we went to Gales every day! hahaha I was getting 3 chicken breasts, 2 twice baked potatoes and a egg&ham croissant sandwhich for breakfast every day lol. It was awesome

BonerJams- hahaha I love 40 Year Old Virgin. thanks for checking my log. Yeah you’re right I could use some more mustache up in here. I actually just shaved it off right before the holiday weekend. I’ll see if I can get a stache compilation put together from some of my old pics.

BrotherChris- I always forget that Nikki is so young… she’s got great potential. Being that strong and that young? wheeeeew!

PowerPuff- I had an awesome time up in Santa Cruz. It was so nice, such a fun relaxing little vacation :slight_smile: I’m glad you liked that song. It was so funny :slight_smile:

Ok so the Santa Cruz trip was AMAZIN!!! It was a little chilly but such a fun trip. Spent the whole trip down at the beach hanging out, fishing, drinking some beers, playing frisbee, playing monkey balls (aka LadderBalls) digging for sandcrabs and having a great time.

We were supposed to come back monday afternoon but ended up changing our flight so that we got to stay an extra day! WOOT WOOT!

In other news… I turned in my application for the Fire Academy today. The lady told me that emails will go out today regarding the Physical Ability Testing which will be June 9th (a week from tomorrow)

I’m pretty excited that the physical ability testing appears to be the first phase of the testing process. I looked over the test and it is VERY similar to the last test I did for my all day Friday fire class. It seems like basically the same thing but while wearing the turnout coat, gloves and SCBA (50 lbs worth of gear)

I’m going to start prepping for it now. I only have a week but I’ll be doing most (if not all) of my cardio while wearing my 25lb weight vest. I’ll actually probably wear it for my entire workout just to get a little more used to some extra weight on my back.

I’m a little nervous/anxious about the upcoming test but I think I’ll be alright (based on my last physical tests) but I’m sure the competition will be more stiff here. Very Very excited though.

MAsteve- hahaha whats going on man? The CT complex (aka The Devils Complex TDC) is a complex that was taken/borrowed/stolen from Ct Rockulas log. Its a clean grip high pull, snatch grip high pull and then bent over rows. Its a “warm up” on upper body days and its pretty awesome. Definitely gets the blood flowing and it’ll work up a sweat too. you should try it out.

Ok so I hit the gym for a “cardio” or conditioning workout. I was going to hit chest/shoulders/tri’s but I’m actually going up to my home town tomorrow morning to hit the gym with my little brother. He just got a gym membership and I’ve been telling him stuff but I’m going with him to show him whats up tomorrow. I’m going to get him on a plan (probably 5/3/1 to build a base) so I’ll show him the ropes/hit up chest,shoulders,tri’s tomorrow with him.

I went with the weight vest today. I wore it the whole time. here is a picture of me in my vest (kinda hard to see with the black shirt too)

3 miles on the bike, foam roll/stretch lower body, shoot hoops for 15 minutes.

VEST ON
Started by running on the treadmill. I wanted to do a little 1.5 mile test but it didnt quite work out that way. I ended up running 3 half mile runs with about 45 seconds in between while wearing my vest.

1st 800 Meter Run: 3:51
2nd 800 Meter Run: 3:37
3rd 800 Meter Run: 3:30

I was HUFFING and PUFFING after that lol! It was serious

Weight vest pull ups:
3 x 10 w/ 60 seconds rest

DB Snatches: (still with the weight vest on)
50lb DB
4 x 8 Each arm w/ 60 seconds rest

I was sweating like crazy after that! I also weighed in at 213.5 at the gym today lol… 4lb gain over the holiday weekend… Oops

going back to the gym this afternoon with my boo. Gonna get a little bit more. Only 8 days till my screen test… crunch time
