Body by Gregron

Long day so far today.

Every Friday I’m in this Fire Academy prep type of class. It starts at 7 AM and goes till 2:30 with no lunch breaks. We do an hour and a half PT to start off which is usually kinda weak but today it was good. We had 4 stations set upL Jump Rope, Goblet Squats to one arm Clean and Press, Medicine ball slams/throws, stretchy band curl and shoulder press thingies.

it was a good circuit except each round was 5 minutes and jumping rope for 4 sets of 5 minutes kicked my butt. I only messed up 2 times though. The teacher thought I was a rope jumping ringer lol.

After that we spent the day out in the rain (yeah it was raining in SD. Whats up with that?) advancing hose, taking charged hose up ladders and flights of stairs… I was pretty exhausted and cold when it was all over with. I drove straight to the gym after that.

Gym was pretty packed inside cause the outdoor area was pretty much useless with the rain. A lot of the equipment was being used so I did different stuff than usual and ran right through my workout. I probably didnt take a 60 second break all workout. i was just banging it out.

Pull Ups
4 sets of 10

HS Iso high row:
3x8 working up to 3PPS on the last one

Wide Grip Low cable row:
3x10 w/165lbs and a big squeeze. These felt awesome.

Lat Pulldown Fly: never done this machine before and it was pretty cool.
3x12 w/2PPS

Bent Over Rows:
225 x 4 x 8

Shrugs, Alt DB Curls, Zottman Curls, pinwheel curls and then bounced.

it was a good workout. My back was pretty pumped which is pretty hard for me to do most of the time. Im really tired now

You training to be a firefighter?

yeah, thats the plan

Gregron,

Just looked through your last couple sessions, and I think you’re probably stronger than the 80’s x 8 for your last set on the seated db’s. Have you gone heavier than this, and taking it a bit easier that day? If you haven’t gone heavier, I’d encourage you to, you might surprise yourself to the tune of 90-95’s for the same reps.

Dude, one of my brothers is a firefighter in Houston. He absolutely loves it. I’ve thought about doing it as well. How long is your academy training program?

Wow, 7-2:30, no break, then gym.

You can so do a Cocoa Espresso workout <3

Yeah i have done more than that (i’ve done the 100’sx8 before) but my shoulder is pretty up and down. I had surgery for a torn labrum and my shoulder isnt very consistent. I’ll hit up the heavier weight next time though for sure.

I was wondering what happened with your shoulder when you mentioned surgery a while back. Glad to hear that’s been on the mend - sucks that it can get a bit sketchy tho. Being an athlete and recovering from injury is such a weird mind-fuck.

Anyways, nice training! WG cable rows are totally awesome! 165 is ridic. And you’re back is plenty thick my friend. Just sayin’

All day at the academy then onto the gym would leave me fried. And you did that all with no breaks in between sets. Sweet! I hate to be a pusher, but i’m a huge friend to carb loading when I have big days ahead of me, esp if they start with physical activity. So eat up!

Btw, my Oly coach is a firefighter here in NYC. He asked me if I want to be a firefighter. Apparently they need to up their female quota of firefighters (weird). I just looked at him blankly and said, “not unless you want me to shit myself every 5 minutes” Good on you, my friend. Firefighting is awesome!!

Damn, that sounds like a rough day. I can’t workout on no food. Probably why i usually time my workouts 30-45 minutes after I eat lunch. lol.

You feeling any cod this weekend?

Flash- Yeah it seems like a bad ass job. I’m in the process of applying right now for a FF1 academy. Hopefully I can get it cause there are hundreds of applicants and only 30 spots a year.

Nikki- Yeah it sucks. We had a few minutes in between evolutions where I scarfed down some food i brought with me but that was about it. I ate an apple on my drive from class the the gym and then got to work. I had plans for a date night with my fiance so I had to get home and get to cookin before she got off work so I didnt have a whole lot of time to spend at the gym.

Masch- Yeah I had surgery for a torn labrum. It was pretty sucky and I had to be in a sling 24/7 for a month. That was horrible! Try sleeping in a sling… it sucked! My shoulder is a lot better now. It still isnt 100% but I dont think it ever will be. My ROM isnt all the way there but I do a lot of prehab stuff to keep it as loose as possible. You should look into the FF thing. Its a sick job and especially out there in NY… I bet you’d be making 6 figures within a couple years… plus you could be in the female FF calendar.(im sure they have one) I’d buy it

Blaze- Whats up bro? Yeah it was a long day that was made suckier cause of the rain. I hate being wet and cold ever since I got out of the navy. I was cold, wet and sandy for so long that I seriously cant stand it now lol. I definitely prefer to have food in me 45 minutes to an hour before the gym but sometimes it doesnt work out that way. I definitely feel like i preform better that way. COD? Ummmm I dont know man. I’ll try to get on if I can but we’re starting to pack up our place this weekend cause we move in two weeks. If I get a little free time when the little lady is out of the house I’ll hop on for sure.

Last night we went and saw that movie Rango. The animated one with Depp as the main character… has anyone else seen it? It was a pretty good movie but wasnt straight comedy but was kind of like a real movie… I liked it (full disclosure: I like all the animated movies really. they are always good) The graphics in the movie were out of control! Seriously… its worth watching just to see the characters and the graphics alone. Pretty incredible.

Thanks for checking the log everyone. Got another game today. Should be fun

Greg-about your surgery, I have a friend who actually had the same surgery(torn labrum), and now he does deep BTN presses. As in, brings the bar down to his traps on every rep. IDK how he does it lol. I think if I had surgery I might be leery of hurting it again, but as long as you make sure to do a rotator cuff warmup before your shoulder workout you’ll probably be in good shape (at least from what he’s demonstrated).

As far as what’s up? Not much. I’m finally on a weekend that I don’t have to study all weekend or so anything terribly important (though I should do my taxes at some point…lol).

Could you try something like bringing a shaker with protein and some carbs (oats or something similiar…maltodextrin maybe) and just fill it up from a sink and put it down on your drive? Could make a difference in your workout energy (not saying it’s bad lol, just that it never hurts to have more energy).

I understand you being too busy for cod lol. Was just wondering if our lazy weekends had lined up for once lol. I’ll have to check out that movie, i’m a big animated film fan too.

Good luck at your game!

if you guys haven’t seen “how to train your dragon” you need to.

^^How to Train your Dragon is sweet. I got it on DVD for christmas after it came out

just made some ridiculously good “Meat Lovers Tacos” for breakfast.

Two pieces of thick cut bacon per taco
Melt the cheese on the tortilla before putting toppings on
Chopped up Pork Chops from last night, sauteed with salsa
One fried egg per taco
Half an Avocado split between the tacos.

AMAZING!

Well first off, congrats for even getting a pic in the log.
Second, that looks awesome, orgasmic.

I know right? Well since the pictures are working again I’ll try to get a few physique shots in here soon.

I love making tacos and mexican food. We should work out together sometime and after you squatted more weight than me I would gladly share my MLT’s with you
