Bobbi, that sucks. I hope this isn’t what I think it is.

I’d love to hear more about your experiment with pulling sumo. The only time I pull conv. is when I’ve deloaded the bar down to 135 and i’m hoisting it up on the rails to unload the 45s.

What do you want to know about the sumo experiment? I suppose I should’ve done video but I didn’t think it was going to go so well. It still feels awkward because I don’t like my left hand being up against my leg. It feels like it’s in the way.

The reason I didn’t like conventional is because it felt like my knees and legs were in the way. How can your left hand be up against your leg? My stance is so wide (longish legs) that my hands are nowhere near my leg until the lockout.

Do you feel sumo in your inner thigh (adductors)? Cause my lower back feels great pulling sumo, but my inner thighs especially where they tie in with my glutes get totally trashed.

Kimba - I can’t really tell you why it was in the way. I’ll have to video if I pull sumo again. It was really just to play around but with the good results I’m thinking if I work on it I could add a lot of weight to my DL max considering it cuts the stroke distance in half. Of course I’m more about translating sport strength than powerlifting so sometimes powerlifting style to pull max weight takes a backseat.
