Blood Test (Help)

Hi guys, i’ve went to the docs twice complaining of symptoms of low testerone but for some reason they’ve refused to check my testosterone levels but instead are checking my blood for other things that they insist will be able to tell them if theres a problem with my testosterone levels.

I’m not convinced that the things they’re testing can give them info about low testosterone and was just wondering if you guys could give me your opinion.

They want to check-

FBC:- (Full blood count)
Glucose:- (Random test)
U&E:- (Urea and Electrolytes, salt levels kidney function ect)
Liver Profile:- (How well my liver works)
Bone Profile:- (calcium, vitmin D levels ect)
Thyroid function:- (Check metabolism level)

Would they be able to spot low testosterone levels just from the results of these basic tests?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Have them check Serum Testosterone and E2 levels.
Post this in the steroid section you will get more responses. make sure you include in your post “i’m not using steroids right now” but they will help ya.

I don’t know the answer to your question, but… just tell your doc YOU want a testosterone blood test. What’s he going to say, no? I mean, you’re the patient. Rather then let him tell you he can decipher it from other readings, which clearly you’re not 100% convinced he can, have him test the damn test (pun intended). Problem solved.

Yeah tell me about it, i complained about low libido, irritable fatigue ect and asked the doc to test my testosterone levels but the only reply i got was that GP’s can’t test for testosterone levels and it only can only be done by a hospital so i got given that basic test instead
(which i havent bothered with yet).

Since i’m in the Uk i dont think the docs over here give a sht about t-levels or dont think its very important, its pretty annoying.

Here is what you want tested:

Test
SHBG
Calc Free Test
Estridol
Esterone
Total Estrogens

Hand that to your Doc and DEMAND and i say this again DEMAND he do the test.
Last i checked this is a capitalist world… if he wont say you will a doctor that WILL.
That should ensure a speedy test.

Fucking doctors.
I moved doctor 4 times, as each doctor is as imcompetant as the last with my cancer untill i found a proper one.
I advise you to do the same.
