How many reps are you doing with the KB GS? Im assuming you brake it up?
Totally impressed with this BTW, I try to do some speed coming up and not many reps
happen that way…which is weird cause normally i can work threw leg burn, but not these.
Going to have to build up UP obviously, sigh.

Funny on the camping trip.
Thanks, Up! Yeah, legs get really loaded fast on these.

The original idea with DJ’s challenge was to do them straight through as one set. I was able to do that pretty far into it, but once it got higher (maybe 50 and up?), I did start to break them up, esp. when Rick would put goblets into our KB sessions. We had one where there were a total of 160 or 180 during the class, so I wasn’t going to repeat and do a whole “full” set outside of that for the challenge.

At home, I’d do as many as I could get through, stand while holding the bell for a minute or two, then start up again. In class, it would be broken up depending on what combos he put together. For example: 10 goblets, [insert another move], 10 goblets; first left side, then right. So they add up pretty quickly. We do left/right, then rest a minute (or longer as we get further into the session), then on to the next.

For these last two days, I want to see how far I can go in one true set. 99 today, 100 tomorrow. I think I’ll have better luck tomorrow; with front squats and other leg work in a couple of hours, then boot camp tonight at 7p…well, I’m crazy, but maybe not that crazy. :)
WHOA, ok, so 50 before even stopping, I am no where near that! Not that its a goal, thankfully.
Ill be watching for your numbers! You ROCK!!
haha…I had my daughter video me at 50 to record the halfway point (in case something happened and I dropped out!). I’m going to go back and review that to see how well I did with not stopping or how long any standing rests were. All I really recall from that round was a lot of grunting and talking to myself to get through it. LOL

5/9/12 - Front squats (same weight as last week, increased volume)
bar x 5 x 1
65 x 4 x 1
85 x 4 x 1
100 x 2 x 1
115 x 4 x 6

Here’s some video of front squat…115, 3rd set

power shrugs
95 x 3 x 1
135 x 3 x 2
155 x 4 x 1
155 x 5 x 1

one-legged press
70 x 5 x 2

leg extensions
90 x 8 x 1

GHRs
BW x 10 x 3

weighted decline situps
15# x 8 x 3

Wasn’t quite “feeling it” today, but still a good session.

Off to boot camp now…

Nice job!

How are you liking doing the “big lifts”?

No doubt the KB work primed you up, you should be happy.

Holy crap you do a shit load of work, i couldnt eat enough or sleep enough to maintain that!

YES!!! Did a very challenging boot camp tonight (I know I say that every week, but tonight he really kept us moving with very minimal rest between complexes…talk about getting your heart rate up! Thanks, Rick! Loved it!). Got home and had no desire to even attempt the 99 goblets I needed today. However, after a short rest, I grabbed the bell and got to it.

Here’s how it went (25#KB):
25 reps straight through, 1 min. rest
20 more reps, 1 min. rest
25 more reps, 2 min. rest
20 more reps, 1 min. rest
last 9 reps

So, not a true set of 99 straight through, but on day with front squats and boot camp, I’ll take it!

Recovery time now…

Thanks, Girl!

I’m loving it! Really, I’m enjoying the whole process of learning what to do/what not to do (and why) and working towards getting each rep. just right. Doesn’t always happen, but that’s why I keep at it - and wow, am I having fun! Great coach, a few great training buddies…I’m pretty lucky.

(…plus I get to eat more food. Yay, one of my favorite things to do. LOL)

Really awesome front squats. I hope to get there someday . . .

Big lifts now?!?

It’s all over with. KB will reach rock star status…forget about us peons here…kick Fish to the crib…go on the View and act snobbish. Yup…all downhill from here.

Aww hell no…that’s not how I roll! LOL!

Besides…the father of one of the hosts on The View is a business partner of mine…Sherri Shepherd’s dad…he’d whoop my butt for sure if I ever acted the fool - esp. on national tv!

(As for kicking Fisch to the crib - did you mean curb -…ok, you made me laugh out loud for real, and that makes my tender rib hurt! Cut it out! hahaha).

First try at the barbell complex Fischer taught me today (55#). Talk about some heart-pounding work…err…fun…

I also got to try doing some pushups and inverted rows using blast straps. Really liked that!

Hi, Snap! Thanks! Yesterday’s session didn’t feel as smooth to me as last week’s, but it was still good. Rick insisted that I still hit good depth, so I think my feet were not right or something…just felt a little off here and there.

As for you getting there, I have no doubt you’ll accomplish whatever you set out to do. Happy to see that your new programming is working out for you! Been watching your bench numbers…nice!

ROFL…not crib…definitely…

OK, did not get to post this yesterday, but…GOBLET SQUAT CHALLENGE IS DONE [insert happy dance HERE]!!! 25#KB x 100 goblets. My body and mind are stronger for having taken on this challenge and seeing it through to the end.

Today’s bench work:
65 x 5 x 1
70 x 5 x 1
75 x 5 x 1
80 x 5 x 5
80 x 7 x 1
Weight will increase next week.

rows (inclined bench)
bar x 5 x 1
65 x 5 x 5 - Had wanted to go heavier, but my rib was bothering me so stayed light today.

shoulder press - seated
17.5#DBs x 15 x 3

snatch pull
bar x 5 x 1
75 x 8 x 3

dips
BW x 10 x 1 (YES!)
BW x 5.5 x 1
-Wanted another set but needed to pick up my daughter…

Great KB session this morning…complete with my favorite: 100 goblet squats worked into the program. Increased volume of swings and swing peaks today.

Friend took a couple pics of my back after Rick mentioned that it’s changing.

Here’s the first one…

Here’s another pic…both pics are a little washed out but you can still see some definition.

…and here’s some video of the 2nd set of BW dips I did yesterday. Got 10 on first set easy-peasy. Then on this set, I got 5 good ones and so close on #6. Getting stronger on these. I should probably have targeted doing 3 sets of 8 but wanted to see what I could get in that first set.

See… you are changing!!! Awesome job!!!

Thanks, Coach! Feels good! More evidence that the “Body by Rick” program is working! LOL

Re: Back shot and Dips - Xena Mode has been downloaded…

Looking awesome!!! Still loving the traps.

You go nice and deep like me! My goal is just under parallel,
but i seem to go deeper not wanting to look like
the guys at my gym not even hitting parallel banging out 20, Yea dude, your swole…NOT!

Congrats on finishing your challenge.

Woo-hoo! That makes TWO references to the Warrior Princess I’ve earned from you, Kairiki. Alright, alright! (See, I’m payin’ attention.)
