I’m coming back from a 5+ year hiatus from fitness due to a much more stable and calm life and seeing a different selection of products.
What’s the latest Surge WF and Mag10 protocol on WO days and nonWO days?
I also still eat a finibar about 45min before training.
Also please give me a regimen for using-
Curcumin
Flameout
Elite pro vitamin
Dfix
I’m now on TRT and came back to a semi decent shape in about 6 weeks.
My mind muscle connection is way better than it was and I’m thoroughly enjoying the lifting sessions again.
Surge a little bit before training, and then throughout. One scoop does me well and I start working out at 4:30am. Not sure about Mag-10 as I’ve not used it.
As far as the others I’d do Curcumin, Flameout, and DFix with a meal. Minerals sometime before bed.
I’m sure other more knowledgeable people will chime in but I’ve used most of what you listed as I mentioned.
I use Surge before my morning work out, and take Mag-10 immediately after (especially if it’s a tough workout). I take Biotest minerals most nights before bed, but not always. These are the only Biotest products I use.
In terms of priorities, I find Surge the most indispensable. It’s been a game changer for me to have this as a preworkout and solves the problem of “how to fuel a morning workout” while also giving me a big boost in my training.
I really like Mag-10 as well. It’s a bit pricey, but I think it does help with recovery after strenuous training sessions. As an older guy, it’s worth it for me. I maybe take the 4x a week, so I get nearly a month out of each bag.
I like Surge during my morning workouts. I start sipping it as I walk in the door, and drink it throughout. It’s the one supplement I really notice a difference whether I’m taking it, both during the session and session to session.
I’ve also started trying Mag-10. Sometimes I drink it after I lift, sometimes I just dump a scoop in my Surge intra. I also feel like it helps - I don’t feel as “eh, I don’t want to” by the time I get to the midweek workouts. These are usually pull workouts for me, and I can tell when they’re grindy and I’m mentally out of it. Coming into those with a bit more desire is indicative to me that my recovery is better. If making a choice, though, I’d choose Surge.
I take Flameout, Curcumin, and P-Well as my health supplements; all with dinner. Flameout definitely shows up in my bloodwork. Curcumin I don’t know how to measure, but I’ve become convinced inflammation is Satan running amok in my bloodstream, so I stick to it. P-Well starts having excitingly noticeable effects after about a week - highly recommended.
I was housing about 10 scoops of Metabolic Drive a day, during a couple Velocity Diet runs, and really do think it’s a fantastic protein supplement. I think of this category as more a meal replacement than a real supplement and, accordingly, my consumption has decreased pretty significantly since I’m eating more normally. I still keep a couple scoops at the ready because I’m somewhat bought-in to the 4x protein feedings a day (although not crazily so), and I don’t like eating a bunch during the day. More practically, it’s an easy way to not eat and make myself sleepy but also not show up to dinner voracious (which is a waistline killer for me).
Thank you for clarifying! I’m pretty skeptical of Surge because I don’t see any empirical evidence of it helping, but enough people are raving about it so I’ll give it a shot.
As for caffeine, I’m nowhere near the point in my training journey that the source will matter so I’ll stick with coffee for now, but I appreciate the heads up for later.
Do you mix the matcha with surge or do you prepare an actual matcha drink with a whisk and everything?
I think there is plenty of evidence that carbs - and highly branched cyclodextrin in particular - aid workout performance. That along with the electrolytes in and of themselves are certainly beneficial to both training and recovery. The other ingredients are aimed at aiding muscle synthesis, promoting vascularity, and other value-added effects.
That said, I would agree that you can fuel and recover from your workouts with whole foods. For me personally, Surge is such a convenience and fits into my routine so well that it’s worth it (plus I like the taste and do find it energizes my workouts).
Totally get what you’re saying, but I actually kind of like being able to titrate the carbs up or down (even though it’s like 5g difference across sessions). It makes me feel like a mad scientist when I mix them up.
I like it quite a bit. I would rank Surge over it in terms of being essential, but I do like to use Mag-10 right after a tough workout and sometimes as a midday protein pulse between meals.
I’ve don’t this for a while and I can tell you that coffee and matcha feel very and totally different.
It’s like a nootropic with euphoria and very slow caffein come down
