I am super bored at the moment and my mind began to wander- on a purely speculative basis: what do you guys (and gals) believe is the absolute biggest deadlift a human body could pull? 1100 lbs? 1200? Or do you feel Andy Bolton’s 1003 was the only time we will ever see anything over 1000?
My absolutely made-up, irrational guess is 1150, based on some freak like ed coan being able to pull 900 at 220, I figure somebody with 100-150 lbs more muscle must be able to pull around 150 lbs more sometime in the future.
I re-read over my post to make sure it made sense (as I am super tired) but I dont really see where your confusion lies… If you are bored and you feel like discussing it, I just wanted peoples opinions on what you think is the biggest deadlift we will ever see in competition is. Do you think someone will ever pull more than andy bolton, etc…
Once the Bulgarians go public with the secret super-steroid they’ve been slipping their athletes over the years, I predict we will be seeing a “first man to snatch over 1000 pounds” title in no time.
What if there was a giant human being 19ft tall, lacking the myostatin gene, with the same genetic disorder victor richards has, weighing 1250lbs, with massively long arms, huge hands, on an insane cycle of new designer zero side effect steroids with nothing better to do than practice deadlifts.
Or what if i found the secret training style, technique and lifted more than him. What if i deadlifted all day, everyday, apart from the sabbath and consumed at least 30,000 calories a day. I think i’d be quite a hard bastard.
1050LBS. Pussy. He first lifted 600lbs when he was 18 and had never lifted weights before. The dude hasn’t even doubled his first ever deadlift. Pussy.
SAMSON. SAMSON. SAMSON.
With God ALL things are possible. Nothing is impossible for him who believes.

The REAL question is, what could a gorilla deadlift?[/quote]
dude, we were at this theme park/zoo checking out the gorilla area, and they had this enormous male silverback gorilla. The lady giving the presentation was talking about how strong they were, and I just kept thinking, I wonder if that big guy can lock his knees out after a pull?
I heard a 135 pound female chimpanzee once casually lifted 1000 pounds with 1-arm, so I think the apes would probably give us a run for our money
to OP,
For a serious response, I doubt 1026 or w/e the current record is, is actually anywhere near the strongest deadlift ever. Humans have been around for a long time and its not like there are good records of our exploits in lifting things.
I don’t doubt there were oversized monsters of men who could lift more weight than any human being today in the last several thousand years. Going back further, Neanderthal man is believed to have been several times stronger than the average human being, plus having a more compact, thicker bone structure.

Consider also that powerlifting isn’t really main stream and kids aren’t often trained for it from a young age, nor are there are not a lot of elite level trainees that focus their life exclusively on powerlifting, as you’d have with basketball, soccer and other team sports with high wages and high popularity.
Due to these factors I suspect that most powerlifting records around will continue to be broken until a plateau is reached, as with Oly lifting.
Someone should train a gorrila to lift a heavy barbell, that would be cool they could have it pulling 1000+lb deadlifts and stuff.
What is lifting a car like in terms of deadlifting? Hasnt anyone heard about the lady whos kid is trapped under a car and lifts it? If that is true im sure if Andy Bolton Jr was trapped under a bus Andy senior could throw it into the lake or something.
