Okay CHEKonIT. I’ve sat here and watched the stuff you have typed and I have taken in both sides of the story.
But you can’t go dissin’ my man JB or it will be on. He is a champ and he is holding the Footy Show together. His calls aren’t the best but he is exactly what CH9 needed.

I hate to admit it, but I agree with Chek on this one. I am not a big fan of AFL, but JB just makes me like it even less.
I would be able to muster up some respect for him if he called cricket. At least he has played the game at a decent level.

I have said that from the start and I am still wondering why someone with sub par pec development is not willing to try an exercise that may actually enhance his pecs. The BB Bench and DB Bench are obviously favourites for you but they don’t seem to be working.

Did anyone watch Any Given Sunday when JB, Newman and Lyon were at the helm? It was the best show on TV and shat all over the current one with Mick Molloy and Nicole Stevenson. How could anyone think that was funny?
I wish the mods would start locking threads like these when they get to this point.
This has nothing to do with squelching anyone’s opinion and has everything to do with the fact that the argument is just repeating itself over and over, with nothing new being added. I think both sides can agree to that, if nothing else.
The line is drawn in the sand and both sides are ready to fight to the death, regardless of what the conflict was originally about. In fact, I’ve seen several people on both sides actually agree about a lot of the main points of this thread, yet they continue to hurl insults.
Lock this damn thing already. If there was anything to be learned from this thread, it would have happened in the first ten pages.

I’m disturbed to see that this tread has gotten so much attention. It’s a stupid debate, really.
Five years ago (at 17) I was a CHEK drone just like this guy. And he is obviously a drone since his whole identity revolved around being a Chek desciple. Anyway, I thought all the same things and cavorted around the internet spewing all the same crap about the bench press and everything else. I am enormously embarrassed to admit this- I’ll never be able to consider myself an intelligent person because of it.
Most of what Paul Chek says is sheer bullshit, and this bench press thing falls squarely under that umbrella. I know hundreds of athletes who bench press and few or none who have the shoulder injuries Chek promises.
Benching on a swiss ball does nothing other than train you to bench on a swiss ball. And that “standing cable push” exercise that Paul uses is bordering on worthless since you can’t use enough resistance to produce an appreciable strength gain.
The bench press has no less “functional carryover” than anything else. The correct strategy for athletes, therefore, is to use the bench press to develop the musculature, and then incorporate that strength into the relevant movements through practice.
The swiss ball press and the cable push are poor exercises. So use the bench press or be small and weak like Paul Chek, all his CHEK practitioners (have yet to see one with admirable strength, physique, or athletic ability), and all of their clients.
Paul Chek is nothing more than an evangelistic pseudo-guru and an aggressive marketer. He is a joke and a fraud and all of his “students” are unsophisticated drones who think they’re critical thinkers just because they take a position that goes against the conventional wisdom.
