Big Arms Without Direct Arm Work

Tis funny how many people often don’t argue the same in relation to calves & forearms.

Ie: ‘I have pretty big foreams…though, I never do any reverse curls OR heavy grip work’ etc
Dysmorphia? Is this because guys with bigger arms don’t consider a lean 15" arm to be BIG? It isn’t. is this news to people? This is bodybuilding, not “let’s STIMULATE our arms any way we can by NOT training them directly”. If I was spending the time and money like some of these people and after years of hard work, I still had 15" arms, I would be pissed the fuck off.

It would seem many of you are simply in the wrong forum and are looking for a site with “bb” and “.com” in the title.
When I say big arms, I’m talking proprtionately big.

Mine either. I train my back…and MY BACK gets sore. You know, that may just be why people say I have a big back.

Naw…clearly I need to start training my back so my biceps work harder.

zOMG… Like, me TOO!

I must be doing it wrong. No matter how many plates I row MY BICEPS JUST WILL NOT GET SORE!

Wait… I just thought of something… When I train my BICEPS, my BACK doesn’t get sore… WTF?

Help… I’m just sure I’m doing this wrong.

Please dont.

Its marginally worse than ‘pound for pound strength’

Both are just headaches in the making.

Great thoughtful post. It just begs the question, if you aren’t a bodybuilder, why are you posting your opinion in a bodybuilding forum?

Besides, you were just arguing that the source of an opinion didn’t matter.

Proportionate, in relation to the rest of his body.

Hahahaha Doubleduce and Bonez are both idiots. Bonez try looking up the definition of objective, ya fucking tool. DD, regardless of Bonez’s retardation, I think you are jealous of him 'cause you’re tiny!

So I have officially discovered from people that I don’t know that I’m both tiny and have shitty arms. Ah, the enlightenment of the interwebs.

And I’m not jealous. I just genuinely don’t like him because he’s a tool and I’m pretty sure he thinks the same of me.

This is getting dumb. Why would your goal on a bodybuilding forum be to have 15" arms unless you are smaller than 5’5"? Wouldn’t a BODYBUILDER’S goal be to build a proportionate body that actually has big muscles?

Why the fuck are the rest of you here to make MINIMAL progress?

Further, why do you think when the rest of us are talking that we give a shit about your goals of wanting to stay small?

You really lack perspective.
GorillaMon wrote:

? You lack common sense. Bodybuilding has NEVER been about being really tiny and “proportionate”. It is NOT about “fitting in”. The guys in that first post are not big at all and are doubtfully larger than light weights…which is fine for someone on stage who is 5’5". It is NOT fine for the guy who is 6 feet tall.

The only people lacking perspective are the guys jumping into this forum acting like bodybuilding hasn’t been well established for more than half a century.

Why do people with goals that do NOT fall in line with bodybuilding at all insist on logging in here and acting like the rest of us are the ones who got it wrong?
BONEZ217 wrote:

yes i lift weights…i’ve been training for bodybuilding purposes for 1.5 yrs and athletics(speed/jumping) for 4 yrs or so…I have more recent pictures in my hub…if you think my advice is worth nothing then so be it…

I won’t even bother arguing against you or X…both of you are extremely unreasonable so there is no point…

LOL

Do you even know what the word proportionate means.

I never said anything about 15 inches being BIG.

Big is ALWAYS relative.

? What is it you missed in that post? No one gives a shit if the 130lbs guy on stage is “proportionate”. He won’t be winning any bodybuilding contests.

Proportion is not and never has been the only thing to worry about in bodybuilding…so again, why are you here ignoring that?

Yeah, “big” is relative…OUTSIDE OF BODYBUILDING. Sorry, but we have a firm grasp of what BIG is within the context of bodybuilding.

Fine, don’t argue. We don’t need it here. You do not have a well developed back or well developed arms. That is why comments about how one should train that go against what built the big arms and back on this site are looked down on when they come from people who do not have well developed backs or biceps.

How is that hard to understand?

Why would I go to the guy who didn’t get accepted into medical school for advice on how to get in?

Why would I go to the guy who failed his board exam for law school for law advice?

Yet, somehow, this makes sense in bodybuilding?

How and why is that?

I was going to post about Skip saying direct arm work was pretty much useless, and he has his clients either eliminate direct arm work or do it every other week, which caused their arms to start growing again.

Most people are never going to be winning any BBing contests. Rather a moot point.

If a guy is able to grow proptionately big/bigger with little to no direct bicep work, what exactly is the problem?

Like I said before, bicep dysmorphia!!

Gee, if someone could build a body that falls in line with what this forum is about, then there is no problem if they avoided direct arm work.

Now…where are those people?

Skip spent 20 years building his own arms with direct biceps training. If you want arms like Skip, you would likely do better to train generally like Skip.

I understand that…I personally do Hammer strength preacher curls every week…I never said not to do direct arm work…

I said chin ups work…and for some people, they might be better than curls…It worked for the guy in OP’s picture(his biceps are not small relative to his body at all)…he himself is not extremely big, but i believe that is matter of him trying to be lean all the time…
