Biceps Tendinitis of the Shoulder!

Seems I have done it again. I have been having pain in my right shoulder for 2months. 2 months where i have been doing 5/3/1 and getting stronger by the week. Now I come to find I might have to lay off the bench amd shoulder press. /depression

Anyone gotten this before? Hwo did you treat it? I dont mind taking a week off or 2 at the worst but Im readin reports of 4-6! ;(

My joint specialist told me I just strained my quads in response to my recent shoulder pain (pulsating, shooting down the outside of my shoulder to my elbow). Gave me an anti-inflammatory and told me to take it easy. He knows better than to tell me not to lift.

What I’m doing: Lift as usual until the pain starts, and then stop. Try a different movement, stop at pain. And so on.

Of course, I say this having just seen him, and about to go into a week-long deload cycle, so his idea of taking it easy may coincide with mine.

Go see a therapist for that. I’m currently seeing one for the same condition and she does a pretty good job of ridding me of the pain (all she basically does is massage my biceps tendon and the shoulder area directly while moving my arm around and pulling on it at times).

AAAnd of course, full ROM Becnch Presses or shoulder work with a regular grip is not a good idea at this stage. i for instance still do OH presses with a neutral grip and unilateral db presses (also neutral grip).

YTLW or LYTP are a must for any shoulder issues.

taking Fish oil,MSM, and currcimon 500 ( I cant spell) have helped me.
I have it in both arms- I work around it but its still bad.

x2 on what kmc said.

These can loosen the shoulder labrum and at least according to Bill Hartman are contraindicated.

As far as an aggravated bicep tendon at the shoulder joint goes (which I am currently dealing with now) . . . Y/T/W/L did not help, face pulls have not helped, shoulder horn has not helped, deadlifting has not helped, low rows have not helped. Essentially most of the stuff that people would recommend for a bum shoulder is not so great for a biceps tendon problem. So I am icing for 15 min. at a time about 3 times a day on the biceps tendon. I am not doing any massaging so as not to aggravate it more. I am using some ibuprofen. All of this is in concert with the doctor I saw yesterday recommended. He also gave me a steroid injection which has seemed to help. I won’t be getting any more though, don’t want to fall into that dangerous trap. Just wanted something to help spur rapid healing.

And I am laying off of back squatting for a couple of weeks, and back exercises, and pushing exercises. Once I get through the woods then light pressing, neutral grip rows with a false grip, switching my under hand for deadlift. Do some light curls and slowly work up. All that kind of shit.

When you bench press does it hurt? If so, where/when? Mine hurts RIGHT as I lockout, nowhere else in the motion. But I am going on my 3rd week of not benching. Just the other day I realized all the shoulder rehab type shit I have been doing has been keeping me from healing properly.

Good luck!

It does hurt when I bench. Now I find if I do some pre delt warm lateral rows to the front and side with light weight (5lbs 15 reps) the pain is less when I bench. Pain seem to to be the worst about 3/4 of the way up.

As for shoulder press ya this muther hurts most of the way through.

Went to a Doc. He gave me some anti inflam medicine and set me up to see a phys therapist. We will see where it goes.

I am taking 6000mg of omega 3 and 3 circumin a day split between meals.
