Alright, time for a dose of self-humility. I have a rather funny and embarrassing story for the T-maggers. Monday night, I did Speed squats, overhead squats, and then supersetted 15 squat-pulls, catching them overhead, with 100 jumping jacks. Everything went great - good workout. Well, the next morning, I woke up after a horrible night’s sleep because my left shoulder was KILLING me. It was so bad I left work and went to the doctor. I’m thinking, “I hurt it doing the OH squat or I caught the DB wrong on the squat pull.” NO…see, neither of those motions/positions hurt. What happened is that I decided to do a GREAT job with my jumping jacks and use great form. So, I kept my arms STRAIGHT and clapped my hands at the top. To make a long story short, doing them with the arms straight pinched the crap out of my tendons and ligaments at my shoulder joint, and I gave myself acute tendonitis. From JUMPING JACKS! Doh!!! Well, now that I’ve embarrassed myself, either chime in and make fun of me or tell us your own story…
I never gave jumping jack much credit until I started a Navy SEAL modeled workout program run by an ex SEAL where I have to to 100’s of them back-to-back with pushup’s and other exercises. Arg, these things kill me!
That’s funny as hell! Guess what?! I’ve done the same damn thing. No kidding! But, I didn’t screw up my arm quite like you did. It felt weird while doing them so I bent my arm more. Too bad you didn’t feel it when you were performing them. Oh well, that’s sooo funny though. Thanks for posting it. Take care & no more stupid jumping jacks.
Managed to pull the medial head and a few tendons. Finished leg workout myself, nothing major, total of 12 heavy sets of squats, hacks and cleans. Was fine, about an hour later the injury occured, due to me trying to break a piece of frozen fish in half. Knocked me out of upper body work for about a month. Now THATS stupid. Injury due to fish, im only ‘special’ in my mothers eyes…
yeah, it was the jumping jacks, just keep doing your explosive training, your trips to the doc will help the economy. peace
