Hey PUFF!!!
Thanks!!
Cal- I’ve thought about vibrams, but I don’t think they would offer much ankle support, would they?
Hey PUFF!!!
Thanks!!

not joking
These are not as high but have a slight heel
Old fashioned workboots are not bad either.
They don’t offer any ankle support. However, using them allows the muscles of the feet and ankles to get stronger. You may want to stick with Chucks for things like squatting (when knees allow) until you feel confident enough to go without, though. Those high ones are sexeh!
If you don’t have one already, get a wobble board too!
Congrats on hitting the 6 month mark! That’s quite the accomplishment MiMsy ![]()
Like Cal said, vi rams aren’t going to offer you any ankle support but the point of minimalist type shoes is to get your feet, ankles, knees, shins, ect… Stronger and used to moving “the way we were meant to move.”
I’ve got a pair and I juat started wearing them again… They are comfy after you get em broken in ![]()
Plus you look totally bad ass when you’re wearing them /sarcasm lolol
Ha, yeah. Especially as mine are bright pink.
Good job on kicking the smokes habit!!
sounds like your going in the right directin for the thyroid issue.
Catching up Mims, congrats on the 6 month no smoking anniversary!
I just started hiit on the bike today and 5 intervals of 40 sec/ 1 min just about killed me.
I also started using that cybex squat press, since I can’t get under the bar for while. I also angled my feet out as far as possible to mimic wide (ish) squat stance.
Hang in there with the thyroid issues.
Wow it just seems like one physical problem after another. I really hope things start going right for you here soon.
Hey Jack- unexpected but welcome stop in my log…thanks for the links. Those shoes are crazy!!
Cal- I do the wobble board thingy along with the leg slide board at PT. oh! I even had to ‘march,’ on a bosu ball. I felt dirty. First time ever using one of those things! ![]()
Greg- thanks,
I can’t justify the cost though. No matter how AWESOME I would look!
N- I certainly hope I’m FINALLY going in the right direction!!
Ct- thanks for that pudding. It goes really well with the other crap I’ve been eating the last couple day! ![]()
Iron- I’m used to things not going my way but I get through it. If I had it easy then I wouldn’t know how to deal I guess. Right? ![]()
I’ve had a cold but am feeling better. Haven’t been to the gym since Wed.
But it’s the most time I’ve taken off since Mid July, so it’s cool.
Should be ready to get back to it tomorrow!
Thursday and Friday I had rice+clam chowder ![]()
when I’m sick I’m so picky with food. Last night we went out to a nice Italian place. I had some fried calamari, a little bit of bread, a glass of wine, Eggplant Parm on a bed of linguine and cheesecake when we got home…
I weighed in to see what the damage was of the last few days and to keep track of how long it would take me to get back to my base weight. I weighed in LESS than I did at the beginning of the week AND AF just started(sorry doods)
hmmmm, interesting!!
I know I haven’t been logging my food lately but thats because it gets boring. I haven’t been having BLTs(bites licks tastes) and generally I eat the same food all the time. To make it interesting though, I may log my food in fitday for a couple days to see what cals are looking like.
I think I may have found the sweet spot of food+cardio for slow and steady loss. 2lbs in 3 weeks isn’t too terrible and thats with my thyroid not being optimal, etc. Maybe I’m getting there!
Next month I plan on stepping up the cardio a bit while dropping carbs only slightly.
Losing weight after a cheat day isn’t all that uncommon. I’m not sure why as you’d think your body would hold water. I remember eating a whole box of chocolates and weighing less the next day.
Meal sounded very nice in any case.
Oh and as for bosu balls, they get a bad rap but they can be useful for some things. I do an exercise with one as part of my glute 'hab. Still, I do roll my eyes if I see people stand on them to do things like shoulder press or bicep curls.
Well, for ME it’s uncommon! ![]()
I typically go up 4-5 lbs after a refeed. This time I split the days and had a few free meals instead of one big refeed day.
I meant to say HI VICKI!! Thanks for stopping by.
I really do like that cybex squat press though…it feels smoother and better ROM than the standard leg press. I know you’d rather squat any day. you will soon enough!
Betty, six months without smokes is AWESOME! Way to go!
I feel you on the constant rehab stuff. That is where I’m at with my ITB and knee cave issues. Its always something, so the only way through it is…bulldoze forward. And you are spectacular at leveling all obstacles!
yes, well done on your 6 months! bosu balls have their place. kinda sad we don’t have them because i’d like one for push-ups and to help strengthen my ankles.
