Mikeh:
Glad to hear from you again. thanks for your post. Had another kicker of an HST workout yesterday (my fourth 15 rep workout) don’t have time to get into details now, but would like to write you more in the next day or so, to apprise you of the experience to date. Want to thank you again for your interest in helping me out. I really appreciate it. Keep up the good work.
Mikeh: hey, quick question for you. thanks for the advice about the diet plans…you mentioned “Bryan’s plan” can you tell me what that is…or give me a link to it? would appreciate it. Thanks very much. Lorne
It’s on Bryan Haycocks site hypertrophy-specific.
The article is called eating for size.
He’s no JMB but it’s a standard 30/50/20 diet.
Mikeh:
thanks for the advice. I appreciate it. these 15 rm workouts are killers… I find on some exercises I can beat my original 15 rm (like ALL the lower body exercises) but have trouble with the upper body ones…I should have used much lighter increments (i.e. going up 5 lbs instead of 10 pounds on the bench), but I felt so “wimpy”. Lesson learned? CHECK MY EGO WHEN I WALK INTO THE GYM!!!
Yes, it’s a EGO KILLER.
Lesson learned? YES.
You can always add weight everyother WO.
Say you can bench 195 for 10’s try this.
175|175|185|185|195|195
Bryan added a FAQ on his site have you checked it out? Might answer some of your questions.
ok i know that potaters are simple carbs but there easier to make for my send post meal 1st being surge. so is it really that bad, i eat a lot of them with my steak or chicken, mainly mashed. thanks
Hey Mikeh: great to hear from you. Thanks again for the affirmation…it’s so great to get the sustained support from someone else who’s done the “walk” before me. And I haven’t had a chance to tell you yet, but your stats are excellent! Congratualations on some very impressive results. I would be darn happy to achieve what you have. I am doubly impressed by the fact that you’re about my age (I’m 42) and are kicking butt in such a serious manner. That’s great inspiration for me. Seriously. It’s so helpful for me to have someone else following these protocols, making incredible gains, AND is in my same age bracket. Thank you!
I just finished my last 15 rep workout today. IT flattened me. With my last workout done, I can say it was a mixed bag. I really did go up a lot in the lower body - beat my original 15 RM’s ,but the upper body was very tough. I realize now, as I said in my last email to you, I should have started off very very light, and made steady but forward progressive. Instead, my darn ego, wouldn’t let me start off small, so I wound up plateau-ing too early in the progression. Live and learn. Anyway, thanks for reading this, and thanks for offering such inspiration and guidance.
Again, thanks to all for the advice…continuing with my need to be more diligent with keeping a food log…can anybody recommend a good place on the internet that I can just plug my foods into, and the website will do the calculations? I tried fitday.com, but their food catagories are very generic, and it didn’t help me at all. (For example, they had no listing for egg whites).
I have tried to keep a log by hand and get pretty frustrated trying to do all the calculations manually. If anybody knows of something that can help me stick to keeping a food log, I"d be appreciative. Thanks !
Heres a great USDA site
www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/cgi-bin/nut_search.pl
