Mr. Push Ups, you are hilarious!

A “chest building competition”??? Too funny.
By the way, I hear Mr. Sit Ups is going toe to toe with Mr. Leg Raises in an ab competition called “Dueling Six Packs”. It’s going to be intense!

Zeb, are you and Mr Pushups the same person? Are you pulling the same bullshit here that you did at Crossfit?

Something just doesn’t smell right.

Look harris, I usually don’t get too mad over Internet bull crap. But I’m not that fond of you and your viscious demeanor to begin with.

I pulled NOTHING at crossfit! And if you want to believe that I did, that’s fine. But don’t sully this thread or any other on T-Nation with your insulting crap.

The why did they seem to know so much about you and your love of pull-ups, Ben?

Is everyone a liar but you?

If you were just a bit brighter and not so filled with hate you might be able to figure it out yourself.

Duh…only one guy on the entire Internet talks about pull-ups. lol

Why don’t you take a hike on over to crossfit and while you are visiting forget your way back here.

Just a suggestion.

Did they just pull that out of their asses? Is everyone lying but you?

Or are you some shady motherfucker with a bunch of different screen names and no life?

Which is it, Ben?

Harris what are you trying to achieve here?

Zeb’s given some good advice here before. I don’t know nor care what he’s done at other sites, from what I’ve seen he’s a solid citizen.

What exactly are you expecting to happen if you bait him enough?

I’m starting to get sick of all the threads being hijacked into flame wars. If you didn’t notice, this thread is titled ‘best pec exercise’.

No offence dude, but maybe you haven’t thought this through. I’d like to see a stop to all the hatin’.

My pecs and legs are probably the best parts on my body, and maybe my biceps. I usually do incline flys, bench press, and incline bench press for my chest and it goes great.I always make sure to go up 5 pounds every 1-2 weeks in my lifts.

Interesing thread and many interesting opinions. The only reason I am posting is to put my 2 cents in about the pushup vs bench press debate. ‘Mr. Pushups’, this is especially for you…even though the pushup is a bodyweight exercise and there will be a higher number of muscles activated in terms of stabilization because of the movement base; the amount of motor neurons/motor units called upon to fire is not determined by this simple fact. Take you for example @ 175 lbs you will be pressing approximately 65-75% of your overall bodyweight (agreed???) this equates to 131.25 lbs. You say you press over 300 for reps and I’ll assume a max bench of 340 (correct me if I am wrong but roll with this just for numbers sake). If this is true then when you are doing a pushup you are using 38.6% of your max weight able to be pressed. This is extremely low threshold and although activating motor neurons by using a higher load (85-90%) more motor units will be activated, albeit over a smaller #of muscle groups but the bench press wins in terms of intensity and muscle stimulation solely because of the weight allowed to be use. However, a completely different argument if we are talking about weighted pushups. However, that is for another conversation. And seeings how most everyone else who has attacked/questioned/commented on any topic in this thread not in agreeance with you has been called a troll I suppose my 5’9" ass at 195lbs with visible abs and a 4.4 40 will be called the same but feel free

Crossfit has posted so much bullshit in this little drama I can not take any of this seriously.

Don’t let your dislike for Zeb’s political positions make you defend these apparant crossfit lies.

harris,

You are now buying into the crossift propaganda? Hmm…maybe not.

Their illustrious “Coach” also called TC a “fraud” and tried to demean him further by calling him a “supplement salesman.” He (and others on the crossfit site) have also attacked T-Nation for various things.

Was he telling the truth in your opinion?

I didn’t know you were such a big fan of crossfits “Coach.”

Oh wait…you’re not are you?

Here’s what YOU wrote about him recently:

I don’t suppose anyone has a recent picture of this “Coach” douchebag?
Douchebag? Now why would you call someonw whom you have such great respect and admiration for, a “douchebag?”

Now let me think, if you really don’t like crossfit and you don’t buy into what they say. And you disagree with their comments about TC and the other negative things said about T-Nation, then what is your real problem?

Hey…could all this be about you carrying over this hatred you have for me from the political and off topic threads?

BINGO

You see folks it used to be bad form to carry over onto another thread your attitude toward someone because you disagree with them politically.

harris447 here has sunk to yet a new low.

You see harris is an atheist who believes that gays should have the right to marry.

I on the other hand believe in God and also happen to oppose gay marriage.

We have also crossed swords on other political issues.

Instead of leaving this debate to the political threads where it began harris has chosen to bring his hatred for me onto this thread.

harris it might be time for you to pull back the hate, or at least confine it to specific subject matter on the proper thread- In short, stop playing the role of the troll, before the mods make you!

Ha…you guys are hitting a new low.

You’re not a “Troll”, you’re more of a genius
Your a gentleman and a scholar

I agree with everything you posted 100%

& if people would respond to threads with intelligent information instead of flaming opinions, these types of threads would never lead into battles of opinion. I tried to avoid the inevatable but the less informed had nothing better to do.

Very good post.

I wouldn’t naysay anything that you posted. I’m in complete agreeance.

By the way your dead on with respect to my max bench and the weighted push ups exercise for “best pec exercise”

Thanks again for the intelligent post.

LOL at a 175lbs MrPushups challenging people to a chestbuilding competition on a bodybuilding site. This thread is pure comedy…

Best chest exercise for me is Bulgarian Ring dips with chains.
Its basically a twisting dip, thechains provide more resistance on the top.

Incline press up. Place your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart on a bench, together with your feet planted on the ground. Bend your arms and lower your body till your chest touches the bench. Push your body copy to the beginning position.

Grab a combine of dumbbells and lie back on the bench, positioning the weights on the perimeters of your chest. Press the dumbbells straight up, lower them, and repeat for one set. Watch Your Form: throughout each the exercising weight and dumbbell bench presses. avoid curving your back as you push the load on top of your chest.

Great and I should follow all the things for me
