Uh, in what regards there, chief? Seriously dude, you’re making no sense to anyone any more. I agree, with the other poster who said, Let this thread die."
Your nonsense and child-like behaviour is killing a possibly very interesting and informative thread.
I’m out

Mr. Push Ups,

I’ll try one of your 3 week chest programs (although I have nothing to “pit” it against, as I just want to try it for the sake of trying it). I’m actually curious to see what it is, and have nothing better to do (I need to take a week off from lifting anyways, I messed up my lifting schedule, so I can go into this little program “fresh” I suppose). What kinda stats do you need?
Highly doubt your serious or you will even put forth the effort. This isnt a cake walk. Requires alot of effort. So if you want, do the same one i posted to the the guy that started the thread. Only stats i need is your fitness level and past workouts, then i can evaluate what your gonna need to do. If you have chest trouble that will solve it.

If you dont, your gonna have to do what i do, and its alot more work than that. I sets of 50 & 75 push ups daily just to get the blood in there. to make them grow, ill give you myt routine just send my a message.

easy answer. im 5% bodyfat and naturally about 135 lbs.

arnold was naturally 200lbs and weighed 250, do the math. i will never weigh 200 unless its fat.
and arnold would never weight 300 unless its fat.

you build muscle on whatever frame you got.

here’s a comparison
my brother is 5’8" and 205lbs
i’m 5’11" 175lbs

i bench 300 with no problem
he can’t bench his own weight

my muscles and arm size are twice the size of his

his chest is non-existant
mine pops through my shirt quite nicely

i cant explain weight, some people are fat, some are ripped

some have strong muscles, some are weak,

some have big bones, some small

all i know is if i weighed 200 lbs with my frame & joint size, i would have the build of serge nubret. i don’t want that much muscle, thats too much for me, i’m more interested in a frank zane build

try wash cloth push-ups, just grab two wash cloths lay them flat on a tile or wood floor about 6 inches wider than shoulder width and do push-ups on them and as your arms extend slide your hands closer together. you can also try doing it bands around your wrists to add resistance to the movement.

this in place of d.b flyes or after a few sets of flyes sure add enough stimulation to bring up you lagging chest…but hey if it isn’t broke don’t fix it, that isn’t to say you can’t modify it.

dips are considered by many as the squat for the upper body have you tried ultra heavy top range dips(7,8x1,3), high rep dips(6x20,25), heavy negatives(6,8x6,8)

try heavy neg. dips 5x6
body weight dips 4x12,15
wash cloth push-ups 2,3xmax reps 15,20
cool, never heard of that before
i’ll definitely try those

Interesting. At his height/weight, I’ll take a stab in the dark that his arms are around 15". You must have some huge arms. LOL, get real.

I’m done arguing over the bench press vs pushup topic, but this should be interesting.

stop ruining this site

this is the best site there is

if you have something ignorant to say, you can send me a message, or you can come to my house, and ill show you personally what 175lbs of shredded muscle looks like

ill also bench 315 for reps in front of you
and do over 100 push ups/ set easily in front of you

i doubt you have the balls or the physique to face me

if so
come on down to my gym
ill tell you where its at
I think I’m scared

I want to go on record by saying that I’ve learned a lot by reading Mr. Push Up’s posts in this thread. Thanks for the valuable info.

My advice to everyone is this: Internet bickering is a waste of reading time for those who actually want to extract information. It’s inconsiderate to the rest of us to have to read the childish behavior. If you disagree with me, the terrorists will win.

Wow, I can’t believe I’ve been missing one of the fastest up and comming trolls here on T-Nation.

Part of me says to ignore Mr. Pushups, and another part says to keep it going so I can enjoy the entertainment it brings.

Watching him get schooled over and over again, and thinking he’s doing the schooling is great.

Keep 'em comming. I’m going to sit back, drink a few beers and watch some pre-game shows as I check back on this thread to see how high of a troll rating it can get.

Without being to incendiary, I wanted to add this because it doesn’t look like anyone has mentioned it.

Part of the reason the bench press has a reputation as a shoulder wrecker is because people bench too wide. Keeping the hands norrower and the elbows tucked protects the shoulder joint.

Also, retracting the shoulder blades has been mentioned as if that’s some special technique. You should always have your shoulder blades pulled back and down when you bench press! That’s just how you bench press correctly. Some time do a press off the pins and see how much thickness you gain by retracting/depressing the scapulae. Not to mention the more advantageous shoulder mechanics.

Now, I was going to just message this to one of the posters who said they found this thread useful, but I might as well just put it out there.

Sir,
You’ve posted some interesting information here and made a lot of claims as to how well your chest is developed. I think I can speak for many here by suggesting you post a photograph of yourself to back up your claims.
It all goes to credibility.

Zeb, are you and Mr Pushups the same person? Are you pulling the same bullshit here that you did at Crossfit?

Something just doesn’t smell right.

Look harris, I usually don’t get too mad over Internet bull crap. But I’m not that fond of you and your viscious demeanor to begin with.

I pulled NOTHING at crossfit! And if you want to believe that I did, that’s fine. But don’t sully this thread or any other on T-Nation with your insulting crap.

The why did they seem to know so much about you and your love of pull-ups, Ben?

Is everyone a liar but you?

Hey Mr. Pushups, I’m in Pennsylvania. More specificaly, the south hills of Pittsburgh. I think it would be great if we could exchange ideas on chest developement.

So, where is your gym? I’m always looking for some different ideas on lifting.

If you were just a bit brighter and not so filled with hate you might be able to figure it out yourself.

Duh…only one guy on the entire Internet talks about pull-ups. lol

Why don’t you take a hike on over to crossfit and while you are visiting forget your way back here.

Just a suggestion.

harris447,

Hey it just occurred to me! I’m currently debating someone on another forum who is vehemently in favor of gay marriage. He is also a Bush hater and very very liberal.

His name is “liberalmoron.”

IT MUST BE YOU!

Yea that makes perfect sense right?

This thread is like a bad fucking train wreck that I know I shouldn’t watch but can’t take my eyes away from.

How the hell can grown fucking men act like this? And while he’s by far the worst, Push Ups isn’t the only one at fault here…

P.S. To keep this somewhat relevant, I too found that heavy weighted negative dips led to great chest development for me back in the day. I just made my own dip belt by going to Home Depot and latching two chains together with a carabiner, one around the waste, another hanging down to attach plates with. Just be sure to leave plenty of slack on the “weight” chain as eventually you’ll be moving up to 3, 4, even 5 plates. In the early stages you can always attach the chain at a higher link so it’s not dragging on the floor.

Though I didn’t use it personally (I just had deep chain marks in my skin for a bit, lol), rubber tubing or a towel around the waste chain will prevent the chains from really digging in on you at the waste.

As someone has said here though, be VERY careful about dipping. Sadly I can no longer use them because I fucked my acromioclavicular joint all to hell by doing my dips too wide and too low. The shoulder and surrounding joints were not meant to go beyond certain RsOM. Make sure you are using very proper form, as this exercise can be executed wrongly almost more than any other out there and lead to serious injury.

A whole lot of stupid on this thread.

175 pounders should not give advise on building muscle. They should listen to advise.

Haven’t you heard? he could be bigger but thats just too much muscle for him!
Mr. Push Ups wrote:
have you ever tried a scapular retraction by drawing your shoulders backward and down.
I tried retracting downwards, but physics exploded.

I do take my scapulae through their full ROM most every day, though…

This is correct if your delts are weak.

Oh lord, here we go with the n=1 “It must be true!” logic.

…What? Two things here - tried the scap depressed and retracted benches. Felt, well, EXACTLY like a powerlifting bench press, which tends to recruit the middle and lower fibers of the pectorals more than the clavicular. Second, you can indeed emphasize the different regions of the pectoral muscles based upon the line of force acting upon the shoulder joint.

Why?

Looked - impressive, but not pertinent to the discussion.
