It’s not shipping just yet. Sometime between today and the 25th. I’ll let ya know what I think as soon as I get it.
Nathan
well I got it. I just wanted to here your comment.
Hey - I heard there was some discussion of the DVD over here.
Although we were originally anticipating delays leading us to ship on the 25th, we were able to get the DVDs off sooner. So if you’ve ordered one, it’ll be there any day if.
Odd how the mail works…I mailed one to my Dad (in Pennsylvania) on the same day I mailed one to New Zealand. The customer in NZ got theirs 3 days before my Dad got his…Go figure.
Whenever you get the DVD - I look forward to your feedback on the DVD plus extra goodies.
JB
The DVD is amazing…well worth every penny…can’t recommend it highly enough
F&F, I can’t wait until they start the Jack Forum. I’m going to make long and passionate argument that I will do an absolutely fabulous, thorough and comprehensive review. And if my argument ain’t persuasive enough, I’m just going to have to break down and buy the darn thing!!! Everything JB does is world class. Expect the best.
Got the DVD, watched it, reviewed it, and forwarded my throughts to T-Mag.
well, I think there’s nothing really new over there. maybe it just me that think like that, so I just wanna know what you think about that DVD…
I thought Berardi is gonna teach us so much about science and cutting-edge nutrition and supplements…
any way, I think the DVD was good, really, and definitely to the new guys.
Not having seen it, I can’t really comment.
But to address one of the previous posters, I think it clearly depends on what ‘you’re bringing to the table’ yourself. I’m talking about one’s preexisting knowledge base. Some will find it very, very useful, while for others it might be mostly review, or nothing really new. It all depends.
Case in point, I saw John speak at the 2002 SWIS symposium, and while a good presentation, there was nothing new in there for me. However, I’m certain many, many people in the audience learned a great deal.
I’m not really sure what his target audience is.
Hey All,
Thanks for the feedback…and as always, keep it coming. We’re always trying to improve the quality of the information we provide so your feedback is critical.
As far as the target audience, I think that it’s pretty broad…as mentioned on my site…
“If you’re looking for optimal body composition and optimal health – for the rest of your life – then this video is what you’re looking for.”
While that description isn’t all that specific, we give a complete outline over on our products page. So, truly, if someone were to buy the video (or even want to debate its utility), and then criticize what they get based on it not being “what they expected”, then I would suggest their expectations were false becasue they didn’t read the clear outline we provided. That’s ignorance - not deception on our part.
(In all fairness, the outline did go up after we sold a few videos so perhaps the first few who bought it might not have had the ability to look at it).
Let me be clear, entering into the video with preconceived notions like - Im sure this video will give me that one missing scientific piece of the puzzle - is misguided.
As I said in a previous article:
"With 50 experts to every 5 principles, it?s no wonder that the experts spend most of their time bickering about the minutiae while glossing over the fundamentals. As an expert, to get your message heard, you need to differentiate yourself from the others. No one wants to hear that they need to eat more fruits and vegetables. They already know this information and therefore because they know it and are still out of shape, they assume there must be something they don?t know. ?Of course I?m not in shape?I don?t have the ?Special Soup?!?
So we don’t give the special soup. Nor do we ever claim to. We’re not immune to the need to differentiate. But with the DVD and some upcoming projects we’re working on, we do so by trying to simplify rather than make complex.
I think we put the video in its context in the roundtable when we said that:
“without mastering the habits contained within, all the articles I’ve ever written are useless – only after mastering them (truly obtaining the mastery that comes from hard work and months if not years of consistency) will all my past article info become useful”.
In other words, all my very heavy scientific writing or theoretical stuff builds on the foundation laid out in the video.
Interesting, many here will associate this level of information with the “beginner”. And while that may be the case, I know lots of self-proclaimed “advanced” trainees who don’t have good nutritional habits and rely on genetics or drugs to get them by.
But we impose a criterion above…“optimal body comp AND HEALTH – FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE”.
Of course, with over 4 hours of content, it’s hard to summarize it all here. But so far, the feedback is phenomenal. Lots and lots of satisfied customers. Not a single naysayer yet. And, judging from my past experience, my johnberard.com audience and the T-mag audience (for better or worse) tends to tell people like it is (see the men are from mars thread ![]()
Ok, Im back to writing the dissertation. I have ONE chapter to go before the rough draft is turned in and Im moving to a new city (for Feb 1st). Hopefully I’ll be able to bump into some of you there. HINT – It’s in Canada…
Whoever guesses and lives there can give me some tips on where to train. I need to find a new commercial gym to train at.
JB
PS…Thunder, thanks for the objectivity, bro! I’d assume that most of my “public” lectures would be “common knowledge” for you. But, obviously, by targeting guys like you, I’m shooting beyond 99% of the people in any crowd, market, etc and serving to confuse them rather than enlighten them. So, just like in any class I teach, I’ve gotta shoot for the reaching the kids just above the mean level of knowledge. The few F students may never catch up…the few A+ students may feel like they know most of it already…but the majority of the class will be reached. That’s the nature of the game.
JB
hey JB, is it available in England? also, does it come VHS or just DVD?
cheers!
The DVD is available world-wide. Just pop over to my site and check it out in our products section. We have orders from Australia, New Zealand, Lebanon, Ghana, Japan, and many others. It’s exciting to have reached such a broad audience!
As far as VHS, nope. Only in DVD format.
JB
John, is the city you’re moving to close to Toronto?
GV
Just got it in today and watched it. Probably should have hired an off-duty porn camera man, would have been more stable and in focus
Other than that I got alot out of the content. Even though I’ve read just about every article JB has put out, I still learned something.
It also touched on something most nutrition programs never do. Plan of action for success! I loved the roundtable at the end, although the audio quality could have been better. And the cheesy transition effects would have been better off with just some blondes giggling along as attention keepers.
Only question I have is, why spinach? I don’t think I’ve ever even had it before. My guess is the micro nutrient content, but I just don’t know that I could eat that much of it. Also I’m a cooking dumb-ass, what kind of vinegar and oil am I looking for? I’ve seen vinegar in the store, but for oil, I have no clue.
I must say though I definately liked the bonus feature of shopping and cooking. When you getting on the cooking channel with Emmeril? Oh and more ass shots of Stephanie at the grocery store would have been good ![]()
Other than that, a very well done job. I’ll be going shopping with the list next paycheck ![]()
Nathan
Nathan,
Thanks for the comments. Your criticisms make me laugh since they were similar to mine. The production quality, with that said, IMO is pretty much up there with other DVDs in this industry - uh, wait - are there any others? ![]()
Seriously, Im glad you benefitted from the information presented.
As far as spinach…that stuff is full of micronutrients and any food good enough for popeye…
Seriously, in terms of greens, lettuce = weak; spinach = awesome!
JB
JB–Just curious, but why a DVD for nutritional info? Seems like that sort of information could be more simply and cheaply conveyed via print.
Exercise videos serve a particular purpose by being able to demonstrate the movements…does using video offer any benefits to you in the way of passing on nutritional info?
Thanks, stay well.
Calgary, Calgary come to Calgary! Err but pretend you didn’t see the news where we regularly drop down to -28…heheh
JB I offer my home gym for your personal use any time of the day and/or night. grin
Anyways, I’m hopping on the website now and am hoping to grab a copy of the DVD for my whole family to enjoy. I’ll even loop it all night long for my 1 year old son…here’s hoping it sinks into his brain during some REM cycles…
I kinda figured spinach was full of stuff that lettuce was lacking.
You thought about licensing your 7 habits format to trainers and what not? Have little info pamphlets and the powerpoint presentation and stuff like that. I think the average ACE trainer is too in the stone age to get involved and screw it up, but there is that risk of course.
Just a thought at least.
Nathan
DVD Format? We decided to use the DVD Format for a few reasons…
a) In the DVD there are features that articles or books might not be able to cover all that well including a grocery shopping segment, a laboratory segment, and a kitchen segment. Sure, I could write about these things but it comes off better on the DVD.
b) We tape 2 live 1+ hour seminars and they’re in the DVD. Many people who might never be able to attend a seminar in person can check out 2 seminars here.
c) We offer an unedited roundtable with my key staff members. This 1+ hour segment is an awesome, off the cuff discussion.
d) Articles, by their very nature, are designed to cover 1 topic. In this DVD we coprehensively cover everything people might need to know. It’s 4 hours of content. The actual content was distilled down from no less than 300 pages of notes we took in the planning stages.
Seriously, in the beginning I wondered if this would be a valuable resource given the format. The answer has been a resounding yes from our customers.
