Bench Press Not Making Me Feel Tired...

Dumb thread title, I know. But I don’t know how else to describe this. Squats and deadlifts wipe me out if I do a long or heavy set. But unlike other exercises, the bench press doesn’t wipe me out. I give it hell and complete sets including sets to failure. When I finish, i’m sometimes sore, but never feel tired.

I’m thinking this is a sign of doing something wrong… Failing to get my whole body involved, etc. I’ve watched Dave Tate’s BP Cure, and have some things to work on. But I’m really just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.

How much weight are you holding on your shoulders when you squat, and how much are you holding in your hands when you deadlift?

…now how much do you bench?

Not only will I bet you’re using less weight on the bench, it’s also not loaded on your spine.

Yeah, my bench is lower by far. 250 for bench vs 320 squat and 405 DL. But I’m still doing them to failure. And even when I curl 120 to failure it seems to make me feel tired at least for a short while.

I also have a hard time feeling it when I bench press. I feel it in my triceps, but not in my chest or shoulders. I guess I’ll have to shoot a video and ask for form tips.

I never feel tired after bench, more like ready to take on the world.

Its also the distance you move it. Bench press is less weight and less distance than squat/DL.

whatt else do you do on the days that you bench?
how many reps do you push out per set?

There’s a simple explanation for this. Squats and deads are more uncomfortable because they require more muscle recruitment and effort than bench presses. If bench presses made you feel like squats or dl’s, there would be no problem finding an unused bench on Monday evenings.

If you know how to bench crrectly, your entire body will be involved and you WILL be tired all over if you’re strong enough to handle heavier weights.

I think the OP isn’t feeling tired because he’s maxing at 250, so he’s likely completing work sets in the 205-225 range. Bench days were a cake walk when I could barely press 250. When my raw bench got up over 3 plates and my shirted bench days involved holding 400+ lbs in my hands, things changed.

Anyways, this is all irrelevant. The purpose of training is not to get tired, the purpose is to get stronger. If you’re getting stronger then keep doing what you’re doing.
