Greetings forumers. Can i do the benchpress and deadlift in one session? Is 2 compound movements in a day beneficial or detrimental to my muscle growth? Thanks!
It’s my opinion from lots of research on this great site that you should concentrate on compound lifts. The number of compound lifts aren’t important as long as you aren’t over training one particular muscular group.
Do some research on Ripptoe’s starting strength program. That would be a great place for you to start. It involves three compound movement workouts in one session. Welcome to the site.
yes, hi there and thanks.i am going to do BP and DL later in my gym sesssion.
Bench press and deadlift are okay in the same workout since they stress different muscles groups so you should be fine. It’s probably best to include several compounds in each session when you are a beginner so you can maximize your learning frequency for each.
The Starting Strength novice routine, which a lot of folks on this forum do/have done, and recommend for beginners features squat, bench and deads on the same day, all done heavy…and it feels great. Go to town, lift heavy, build muscle.
Yes it’s beneficial. Yes you should do them every session. I’d recommend Waterbury’s TBT to start out with. That has 4 compound lifts every session, 3x/week. Good luck. Have you read the “Are you a Beginner” thread yet? I’d suggest heading over there before asking more questions. It’s up at the top of the beginner’s forum.
Deadlift is a PULLING exercise. Compound, lower & upper body.
Benching is a PRESSING exercise. Upper body only.
PULLING =/= PRESSING, so you can combine the two.
Its fine for a beginner.
Bench before dealift.
Rest for 5-10 mins between the bench and deadlift to get the most out the deads.
It depends
What does the rest of your routine look like? How long have you been lifting?
