Beginning Serious Strength Training

Hi guys!

I’ve just begun training again, after a 2 month break (I’ve been training for a year in total). Before my break, I had a full body program - where the focus were on bodybuilding and strength. Now I just want to focus on strength training (bench press, squat and deadlift). I’ve never really been serious about those three lifts, but now I guess they’ll be essential for my training.

Both my deadlift and squat are below 220 lbs (never found my 1RM) and my benchpress 1RM is 165 lbs.

So here it goes: Can anyone recommend a good program for gaining strength in bench press, squat and deadlift?

Hit up the beginners thread lots there id suggest ABBH 1

Hey, you’re almost in the same boat as me. I’m just starting out lifting seriously. Currently weigh 178 @ 18%bf. I never lifted serious before, never even done a deadlift before. I looked into it quite a bit and decided to do Rippetoe’s workout routine. It’s supposed to be great for newbie lifters, as it focuses on the compound lifts. You should check it out. Good luck.
