Hello all, fairly new to this thread and website and hope to find out some useful information.
I am 36 years old, weigh at 162lbs. 5’5” and am a pretty active person with my job and at home. I have a work out routine that I follow consistently for about 5 years now. I work out 3-4 days a week. Mainly strength training, push pull days, resistance, and some cardio. I have been to doctor appointments and have been told to get on ozempic or wegovy as I have trouble with insulin sensitivity. I’ve declined and choose not to take this medication. I’ve been greying in the hair, had low libido for awhile, and just feel like my testosterone has been low. I feel sluggish, and tired all the time. I’ve been talking to the doctor to test my testosterone levels, and he doesn’t feel like I need to because of my age. The physician I see does blood panels and test levels aren’t on them.
I spoke to someone about testosterone and they advised I take SUS 250. His advice to me was to buy an 18g to draw the oils, and to purchase the full setup at my local Walgreens but to buy a 21g to administer my shot intramuscular on my thigh, or buttocks. I was to take this once every 14 days. 200-250mg
This person really didn’t give me much more information than that, so here I am. Requesting support and guidance from a group I hope is friendly enough to provide some guidance. Help?
This person is an idiot. This is not good advice. If you were told to take ozempic I’m to assume you’re overweight? This will decrease testosterone. This will also cause issues if you start taking test.
My advice would be to get bloodwork to see where your at and get diet squared away.
The ozempic thing raised a eyebrow for me. Seems odd for someone who says they have been active and has followed a routine for 5 years? (Thats ironic since thats the minimal most would advise someone to think about gear if so inclined on here.)Wouldn’t you say? Thats a red flag for me on my end. The indvidual says its for insulin sensitivity issues which is unusual if the indvidual is actually in decent shape and active. Just my view on it.
Have you tried to clean up your diet to see if you can improve your insulin sensitivity naturally? No more sugar and processed foods.
With a few months on a clean diet and at least 1 gram of protein for every pound of body weight, you will be in a better position to benefit from additional testosterone.
You didn’t mention any specifics on how strong you are.
And I saw the same thing during my research, I shouldn’t be on test if I’m on any diabetic medication. My starting weight was 210, and I dropped down to 162. I been working tirelessly in my working out. I eat clean, I do 1g protein per body weight, roughly about 140g of protein a day. My fats are like at 60g, and my carbs are like 180g a day. My caloric intake daily since starting the deficit I’m at 1800. I’m feeling stuck
Ty for clarifying. Your initial post made it seem like you were overweight. Doc wanted you to take ozempic to help with insulin resistance?
You can absolutely take test with glp meds.
I would suggest you get baseline bloods to see where you are at before doing anything.
If you want a quick change increase your fats by 15g and decrease carbs 33g. That should net the same caloric intake.
Get bloods and report back
So what you’re saying is if I weight 162 I should have AT LEAST 162g, not 140. I’m mainly wanting to keep cutting and keeping lean muscle if possible. But my weight has stopped dropping and I’m hating it.
I’m not so sure I’m going to do test after all, if I can get it natural I guess that would be doable. I’m just at a damn standstill on weight loss, and feel lethargic and tired all the time. Greying in the hair, and low libido. I thought by losing weight I’d be able to want to have more sexual energy. I almost feel like my testosterone is low though
IMO, if you want to lose fat while maintaining muscle mass you need to primarily over feed muscle (with more than sufficient protein.) If you are getting your protein from meat and eggs you are probably getting sufficient fat. Just add a tablespoon of fish oil. All you need to do is reduce carbohydrates a little each week while assuring that your strength stays. You can add cardio to burn more calories.
Most people don’t know a clean diet from Adam’s house cat. List all your carbohydrate sources. If you use any condiments, list them. If you drink anything beside water, list it.
Water, black tea, coffee black is usually my to go to throughout the day. Occasionally for my work out I’ll have a ghost, c4, or a bucked up.
As for carbohydrates I eat white rice, maybe a cup. Veggies, sweet potato, quinoa, sometimes Greek yogurt plain.
Protein sources are Ground beef the leanest I can get my hands on. Chicken, I’ve been eating a lot of the impossible or plant based products, boiled eggs. Etc.
fats I normally do avocado, my oils are the avocado oils, peanut butter if I need some fats included.
Good point, if I’m being honest I hardly finish my rice. It’s probably my least favorite. I try to eat it with chicken or something for flavor, so I’m pouring a cup of rice but finish like half. Or 3/4 of it. Depending on the day
You misinterpreted what I’m getting at.
Are you weighing everything you put in your month? If your weight is not dropping then you’re def not under eating.
Seems like you have some low hanging fruit.
I used the feedback system to regulate the amount of carbohydrates I ate. It is super simple, so much so I call it the Idiot Diet. Pick the amount of carbohydrates you eat each meal and keep it consistent. If at the end of the week you didn’t lose any weight, you are eating too much carbohydrates. Drop the daily total carbohydrates about 20%. Repeat the process the next week.
Another metric you need is a strength metric. If you got weaker on a major compound upper body exercise, you have dropped your carbohydrates too much
