Ok I’m going to catch major flame for this but here goes anyway.
Came back to college following Westside lifting hard keeping track of my diet etc. Then I busted up my wrist and ankle (hitting a bag and jumping in flip-flops. wicked smart me). I was balancing drinking and school and lifting well but it took about 3 weeks to recover from the wrist. Now I drink 3 nights a week and have tests left and right. I know the easy answer is to not drink at all or as much as often. But given that I probably will at some point despite my better intentions does anyone have advice on how to minimize the damage all this alcohol does to me? I try and stay hydrated and figured creatine should hold more water in my muscle cells so they don’t deflate but don’t know if that would create too much of an osmotic shift when alcohol gets dumped in. To be honest, I know drinking is bad for me, it lessens my appetite (wicked bad for a skinny fucker like me) when I’m hungover, kills my liver and brain but since I’m a shithead having that kind of fun is a priority for me in my life right now. But if anyone has any hangover cures or ways to lessens the negative effects of me poisioning myself I’m all ears. I figure if I get anyhelpful advice in fires of hell I’m about to catch its worth it. As of now I’m on big boy basics and loving it before I grow my balls and find self-control so I can go back to westside. Thanks in advance and please show some mercy on my soul.
Okay bud, here is the deal. You said it in your thread that driking was more of a priority to you, so that will equal staying skinny and weak. Nothing will help you be a animal in the gym after a night of boozing. I have just finished school and lived in a frat house, believe me i know it’s not easy. My suggestion, pick one night a week your going to drink on, and make the next day one of your days off. Otherwise, drink and be lazy and stay small. I know this is not the real answer you are looking for, and someone is probably going to light you up. The only thing you have to ask yourself is, whats more important, partying, or getting hyoooge. btw, you can go out and not drink, it sucks but’s is a compromise. best of luck

Look, you don’t NEED alcohol to have a good time. Go to your parties, get crazy, have a drink or two to blend in. And just cut it off there. No problem, no fuss, no worries. It’s easy - once you get yourself out of the mindfuck trap that you HAVE to drink in order to have a good time. You don’t.
Drinking doesnt mean you cant add mass. Thats absurd. When I was bulking last year I went from 163, Im only 5’6", to 181 and drank 2 nights a week. I kept the diet full of good clean food and drank when I wanted. Sure you dont feel great the next day, but Im young too and want to live too. Part of young unadulterated fun is getting shitty. Just accept the fact that is the part of life you are in right now. But, dont think you cant add muscle just becuase you drink. I also am an amatuer competitor and I drink in the offseason, its all about balance.
As for the cures. Before going to bed its important to take a bunch of the b vitamins, as these are flushed due to the diuretic affect. I also take 1000 mg of vitamin C before bed. In the morning more b-vitamins, more vitamin C, and instead of the usual oats with eggs I chug a huge gatorade with my eggs. Now yes its loaded with sugar, but you have all day to burn it off, and it really restores electrolyte balance which is why we feel shitty after a night of drinking. You could also use pedialyte, not sure if it has less sugar. I usually add in a cup of green tea as well. Good luck, and have fun now while you are still in college. I envy you bastards if I could go back I would.
i second that you can add muscle after boozin, its just not optimal.i’ve set prs on 3hrs sleep after a night of drinkin. but, if i was smart i woulda just not drank. heres the deal, lower your alcohol intake [to like once a week at most], keep the water plentiful, eat as cleanly as possible and dont let it stress you. its pretty simple. also, i’ve heard that drinkin and creatine are a bad idea, as they jack with your insulin levels. maybe someone with a better grasp i’ve what i’m tryin to say will chime in.

yea yea, im a high school student… but i do have some pointers. i dont believe there are any ‘true’ cures for the hangover, i myself never really suffered from them. but here are some things that may help you. niacine, vitamine C… i heard not to drink water and eat bread. how much truth there is to that, im not sure. hope that helps
Just finished university at a school that drinks a lot.
As long as you don’t overdo it a couple drinks won’t kill ya. Before bed, sure, vit.'s etc. I would also have some steak\egg\whwhtoast and lots of water. If you have a hard time dealing with the morning after I would recommend a repeat, steak\eggs\whwhtoast nice cup of black coffee, ginko biloba, vit E, and multi-vit. Vit E and Ginko will boost your brain for any exams\studying you need to do. Besides that a quick burst of cardio(1 mile run) will get some fresh oxygen to your dome. A jacked friend once suggested whacking one off to help cure hangovers, you mihgt try that as well. Finally, when you drink stick to vodka, whiskey etc. in smaller amounts(one-three shots) and you can avoid some of the PBR after effects.

Thanks guys got some good suggestions out of that less flame than I thought I would… I’ll try and keep the overall consumption down … sorry to annoy anyone if they felt that this topic was irrelevant but I really had no luck with ideas, hence the forum post.
