Hedo, which presidential candidate would you vote for (provided you show up at the booths)? Are you one of those Americans who vote for a party and not for a candidate.
Never missed an election since I have been eligible. Local and National. How about you? Are you one of those people who complain about everything but rarely do anything about the way things are in YOUR own country?
Right now I like Rudy and Thompson. Could vote for Romney if he is nominated. Democrats haven’t had a decent presidential candidate since JFK. I’ve voted for Democrats in local elections before and may again in the future.
Me voting for a Democratic presidential candidate, in this election cycle, would be like you taking a less biased view of the world and actually having a balanced view of politics in the United States. In other words niether are likely to happen.

Elections haven’t always been transparent in my country. It still isn’t perfect. Gerrymandering and other sneaky techniques replaced the outright vote ballot stuffing.
But to keep it short, I do vote.
Thanks for the reply. But it still doesn’t tell me which candidate is closer to your views. Can you narrow it down to one candidate?

Actually none are really close to my views so I haven’t made up my mind. I have met Rudy several times and I find him to be a genuine leader but I disagree on many issues he supports.

Thank you for voting.
A hell of a lot of good men have died or suffered horrible injuries so that we can vote. I would never betray or dishonor what they have done for me by me not voting.

A genuine leader? That’s an interesting expression. Do you mean to say that a candidate’s charisma is more important to you than what he/she stands for?
Surely, there has to be a candidate that is closer to your views than the others. From your posts, it seems that you are voting for the party rather than the candidates. Please say it isn’t so…

I would have to like someone to vote for him, as well as agree with his positions. Leadership is subjective and not based on charisma alone. I found Rudy humble at some events and energized at others.
As I mentioned I haven’t decided. The election is a year away. The parties are quite opposite at this point in the election cycle so it’s unlikely a crossover candidate would appeal to me that shares my views and is a Democrat. He simply wouldn’t make it to the national stage…and still be supported by Democrats.
I’ve also stated I voted for Democrats in certain elections so your inference that I vote solely along party lines is wrong. In the last election I voted for Seamus McCafferty for Pa. Supreme Court Justice. The only Democrat I voted for, but he was the only one I liked. He was supported by a Democratic governor who I despise but have supported on certain issues when he was Mayor of Philadelphia, chiefly regarding charitable works and business development in the city. Few people vote in off year, off mid-term elections unless you are fully involved with the election process and value it.

Fair enough.
Last question: Would you consider voting for a presidential hopeful that’s neither affiliated with Democrats nor with Republicans?

Unless Rudy is her opponent, she’s got a lock on New York and then California, of course. Hell, she’s almost halfway to the Presidency NOW. If she is smart enough to get Obama for VP, there goes Illinois. That’s a hell of a lot of electoral college votes.
…
On the flip side of that coin, it isn’t a particularly large exaggeration to say that she’s already lost every landlocked state in the Union.
Hillary has the most name recognition right now, but she’s also got by far the biggest bloc of voters that hate her fucking guts.
I generally have respect for people that come from nothing, and through determination and hard work make it somewhere. Barack Obama was not handed his life on a plate, he’s worked very hard to get everything he has achieved. Someone with that level of conviction and work-ethic is much more likely to take on whatever job they are handed as seriously and responsibly as possible. Couple this with an overwhelmingly large rejection of special interests and lobbyism, further strengthens the fact that he is principled and not going to compromise his ideals for the sake of racking up political points.
As best as I have seen from him, this has been the case. Is it entirely possible that it is all a ruse? yes, but, given the opposition, I’d gladly take, what I consider to be a very light gamble on that chance.
I liken his candidacy to that of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s for the Governor of California. In the sense that Arnold, his entire life, has succeeded in virtually every thing he has pursued, because he has had the dedication, the intelligence and the uncompromising drive to do so. He came from nothing, and willed his way to becoming a very successful, influential and powerful person(in every sense of the word). He has approached California with the same dedication and commitment that he approaches everything in his life, and because of that, he has done a pretty good job thus far with keeping a handle on what is historically the most difficult state to handle.

Well, I will likely refrain from voting this time. Not one canidate will be taking this nation in the direction I feel it must go. So what the hell, I’ll let you folks do the choosing. The Democrats are pretty much full blown socialists now. Socially, they’re Big government freaks. Fiscally the Republicans aren’t all that far behind. Socially, they’re also Big Government freaks. Yeah, I’m sitting this one out.
And no, I don’t feel I’m betraying anyone by not voting. Good men died to protect my freedom to vote. That is to say, the choice to vote.

You could vote for one of the minor party candidates, just to let the powers-that-be know that you ARE watching them. Also, politicians will note the rise in votes for that minor party and maybe bend a little in that direction. Stranger things have happened.
You certainly have the right to not vote. Three of the guys in the pic never voted again.

Perhaps one or more of those men never voted at all? Their voting habits on record?

I suspect that they were too young to vote, for the most part. 21 was the voting age then.
Since they were willing to gamble with their very lives on the future of this country, they probably were willing to walk down to the local school or union hall.
Most Americans back then considered it un-American to NOT vote. Marines are hardly un-American.

Anyone NOT willing to gamble with his/her very life for the future of their country is a waste of skin.
