I’ve been graying since I was in my 20’s. It’s a genetic thing, as my dad, and my aunt had full-on gray hair my whole life. Even my dad’s senior picture shows him with some gray hair.
I hate it. I won’t color it because the only thing worse than gray hair is cheesey ‘colored hair’ look.
My wife hates it when I shave my head, but it’s the only time I don’t hate my hair. I try and keep it cut as close as I can, but you can still see the signs of wisdom on my temples.
So what do you guys do for your graying hair. Do have gray hair? Do you care?
I only wish I had MPB so maybe my gray would just fall out in the sink. But Nooooo - My hair is as thick as the armpits of the East German Women’s swim team.
Mine is falling out faster than is turns gray everywhere except my beard.
My chin is as gray as you can get. When I shave for hte summer everyone thinks I’m in my late 20’s, then in teh winter they see the gray and figure I"m in my late 30’s.
My daughter has offered to buy me the Ron Poppeal spray on bald spot cover instant hair stuff or the “Just for Men” beard color.
You and I must share this trait. My Dad (and Grandpa) still has a full head of hair, with a lot of salt and some pepper. I once saw a picture of him standing outside, from a distance, and thought it was my Grandpa at first. Then it was “OMG that’s my Dad.”
I too started graying early. If you keep it cut short it can look distinguished.
One day this past summer I was considering color, just because I wanted something more bold. My hairdresser had been thinking something similar. He proposed putting blond streaks in my hair (normally dark brown with the salt). Basically, he made my entire head light streaks with dark hair. Everyone who has seen it has complimented me on how good it looks. Of course, he does good work, but the look itself works very well for me, as well.
I have a baby face, and look about ten years younger than I really am, so a bolder look works for me.
For what it’s worth…
Get a good hairdresser and see what s/he suggests. If that one doesn’t work for you, find another one.
In addition to the gray hair, I have also been cursed with naturally curly hair. We’re not talking cute little wavy type hair - We’re talking Mike Brady afro hair.
im not there yet but i have the early gray coming to me for sure. shaved head is the way to go, or short gray i would say. i thought i found some grays like a year ago and felt a midlife crisis coming, but it was just the lighting.

Dude, are you trying to copy me?
That’s funny! I also have very naturally curly hair. This means, if you want a modern hairstyle, you really need to go short.
Currently, I get it cut very short, then do the “Ceasar” look. I take some hair cream, rub it in, then just flatten the hair forward. It stays, takes 30 seconds, and I’m done. No curl, looks great.
Alright, what color is your hair? If you say very dark brown, I think I have a stalker.
The under thirty fives must be shitting them selves wih laughter but fuck them!!!
OK here is my opinion - I have a full head of hair thanks to many years on propecia. Only my temples are going grey so I colour them. But i also keep my hair quite short as it all seems much more “natural” to be nongrey if kept short.
Furthermore older guys like us do look better with shorter hair regardless. This was first brought to my attention by a friend whose business is “image” and she is very good at it.
I am lucky, only have grey on the old package and chest. So I shave the fuckers ! I’ve seen many greying men color their hair and it most definitely looks like shit. My friends… please don’t do that.
Oh please don’t go into the past… at one point 'fro was the only thing I could figure out to do with my hair. Any pictures from that era I will vehemently deny association with.
I also have the exact same hair type! Every two weeks I get my wife to clip it for me, #1 on the sides and back and #2 on the top. This is about the only way I can show my head in plubic, as for going grey at 35? I couldn’t care less as I’d prefer to be grey that bald personaly.
Ive been going shiny silver on the sides of my head since my late teens. I F#*%king hate it too! I personally dye bleach blonde…it suits me I dont care what you say about the look (the chicks like it too). Every time I see the grey coming through it puts 10 years on me…im in my early 30s so I dont need that sh!t.
As for the Bald option…i’ve tried it. I have a “Captain Picard” head, as in pointy…so thats not an option either.
The good news is that the bleach blends the silver, so i don’t have to dye it often.
I don’t care for bald guys. It’s a big deal especially since I tend to go for older guys. It’s important enough to me I look closely at family pics to check genetics. Gray is okay, blending it with blonde highlights is a good idea. Making it look like summer kissed hair. For the brunnettes out there spritz with a couple cups of cooled coffee, leave in for 10 minutes, and the gray will hide nicely as a highlight. Cheap, chemical free, and not obviously dyed.
911 girl, you check family pics, etc. to see if the man is going to go bald so you can avoid him? You are one shallow broad. To each their own I guess.
