I have bad knees, knee caps are 15 degrees off center, this makes my knees hurt after any exercise that impacts my knees. Such as running, squats, deadlifts and even good mornings. I am addicted to these exercises and was wondering if wraps or sleeves would eliminate or reduce this knee pain?
nobody squats with bad knees?
They might not eliminate the pain, but they will almost certainly reduce it. I’ve only worn wraps a few times, so I can’t really speak on their effectiveness firsthand, but Rehband knee sleeves do the trick for me.
Wraps will help alot.
I to consider myself to have “bad” knees. Sleeves with a little tightness will help but nothings helped me more then bringing my squat stance in to shoulder width - that made a big difference for me.
I’ll also add that Glucosamine MSM Chondroitin has a profound effect on alleviating knee pain for me. After neglecting to take it for a week, I really lived to regret it.
My concern with wraps is that your kneecaps are off center. When I wrap my knees, I flex my quad and retract my kneecaps a couple inches. I don’t know if you could potentially wrap your kneecaps into a location where they track worse than they currently do.
Knee sleeves are cheap and easy, and don’t compress the joint and kneecap as much as a wrap will. I’ve only used the sleeves made out of knee wrap material (and I go with the smaller sizes to keep some compression), but I’ve also heard good things about the neoprene sleeves as far as making the joint feel warm and happy.
