I may throw in some accessory work with upper day.Got my new/old bench will be nice not to feel like Im going to fall off, with it so narrow at top.

SO that ended January, Ive got one last training sesh to end this maintenance mode of mine. Although even though I wanted to AT LEAST maintain,

75x10 was REP PR definitely depth was below parallel
Bench at 83/2x7 most for 7 old was 80x7
narrow grip bench 73/2x7 was best ever

So things are still moving along. This month will be good, next month will be a tuffey with the beginning of the month determining how training “may” go. Ill be traveling out of town so hopefully ill find a FL, gym to train in.

I have ZERO plans ATM to drop any weight, Im comfortable here, maybe even press for some gains Feb and hopefully March, april, then see what Ive got in May. I dont feel like Id have the body Id want cutting back, so that would be really DUMB! Im embracing a little cellulite, fuck it, Ill just smile a little bigger :smiley:

So Im debating about switching gyms or I should say CLUB to GYM. Its a PL GYM, went today to check it out.

PROS SIDE
Platform for DLs,
has Oly plates so I can be at right height warming up
prowler and more available —>serious bad assery here
can build confidence training in front of people again
Owner was great! Said he would offer up technique advice if i ever wanted.

CONS
30 mins away (place now is 2min)

cant DL there so I DL at home then drive there and finsih training, but it is close
they have squat racks BUT bars almost touch the bars next to them, so kinda freaks me out.
DOUSH BAGGERY never ever put plates away

OMG THAT’S FREAKING AWESOME!!! The PL gym sounds super freaking cool (prowler?!). But I feel ya, sometimes you have to make a rational decision. lol!

So how did you feel walking around the PL gym? Were you excited by it? I think in the end your gym is kinda like your second home. You gotta be comfortable with it, you know?

And yeah, maybe going in 1x a week and just pay a day rate? That could be a good option! Go when you need to really focus and get in the zone. RAWR!

I’ll put a vote in for the PL gym. Being in that atmosphere is HUGE and it is so helpful to be around other people doing the same thing, and who are knowledgable (I am learning this too). Is keeping both memberships an option? Then you can do PL gym a couple times a week and club the days you just want to do accessory or de-loady type stuff?

And what kind of club doesn’t let you dead lift!? I must have missed that earlier on.

Hun, 30 minutes is a small price to pay for a truly hardcore gym. That said, if it doesnt fit into your schedule or lifestyle it’s no use to you.

Front Squat looked perfect…you might have the longest feminine fingers I ever saw and I wish I had your wrist flexibility. I think the switch to the PL gym is a no brainer!

Funny how my light bulb moment lead to your light bulb moment which is now back to me. More on the back before next squat session. And i am not sure your fr sq could get prettier, but i am sure that just lit the fire to make it that way :slight_smile:

New gym sounds really awesome and i think it is needed for all the reasons you listed above. I’ll throw in my 2 cents but also i have more insight into your life so i have maybe just a different perspective?

I believe your schedule is about to change so i think that needs to get worked out before you make a full time jump. You’ll be traveling alone, and parking walking in/out alone so you need to be smart about that. I don’t think the area is necessarily bad but definitely not the biltmore! With that said it’s something to consider if you can only make it at night.

Also atmosphere is great but i also know that you don’t need that 100% of the time. You are one of the most driven people i know. And you know that is a major compliment maam…seriously. When it comes to picking up stuff on lifting and power lifters i have found for the most part they are not good coaches but good at telling you how they do it, then you can tweak things to work for you. When i was learning i was fortunate to be in the NEPA area, close to Allentown, wilkes barre, Lehighton and Hazleton. Those areas were rich with tremendous power lifters. We would go train at a gym occasionally to as much see the people lift as workout. Listen, ask, watch, meet people then go back to the basement gym and see how we could tweak what we were doing. We coached each other but now that is done with video just as well (almost). We picked stuff up and also made acquaintances so when we went to meets we knew people. So i have seen the occasional trip to the PL gym be really productive.

Lastly is the amount of equipment, i know they have one platform and 1 comp squat rack. If its busy can you use the power cages, set up a deadlift spot on floor etc. Believe me 4-5 powerlifters can tie up a platform for a long period of time.

So just things to consider, but my vote is see if you can get there 1x week or every other week and test the waters. Sorry for the ramble.

SO yea, Im liking where my training is heading. I know what I like, I know what frustrates me etc.
I think I respond to a good amount of volume with decent weight, (having a few prs while in maintenance mode, reminded me of this)

Sooo Some ramping with some higher volume/flat weeks mixed in.
ex: this week sq.95/105/95 next 85/5x5, something like that. I actually like the high volume weeks, they kick my ass but my recovery is good.

The other thing I think it would have helped if i saw some PLers in there when i was there,that would have charged me up. FOR INSTANCE last night at my gym, the guy on the BOSU ball in the squat rack
DID NOT MOTIVATE ME, the racks almost touch, and quite honestly if he fell, i would have been PISSED at him, instead of asking if he was alright. Thank God Im in my zone most of the time there. Chatty Cathy I AM NOT!
