^Well, after seeing your vid you’re leaning into the rack & hitting more chest. Turn it around & try it, see if it doesn’t put most if not all the stress on your tri’s & shoulders.

& if you struggle on grinding out your last 1-2 reps, take that slider from your rack, slip it into the the number one hole & you can use your feet as a little helper.
:frowning: that would feel like cheating to me, but ill try the opposite way, although I have been trying to hit more chest. The tris need to get stronger too.
Thanks
If your trying to hit more chest than you are definitely succeeding in your vid.

Funny, I always saw it as chin pointed up hits tris because body is more vertical so you can’t use as much of your chest…chin towards chest forces upper body forward emphasizing chest in a more pressing form…this assumes parallel bars that don’t taper.

you’re doing great…the stronger you get the less your lower body will “arch”

Hey Up, just a few thoughts. First off man your dips are getting good, awesome work! And your mp have really come a long way since may.
Maybe think of the bar path of the mp like the dead. When you dead your knees drift back and bar comes in toward them so wt stays over center of gravity. That is what makes your pull so smooth. Same on mp, your head drifts back and bar comes back a hair as it leaves shoulders to stay over center of gravity.
I think your current form on the dips is giving you the best of all worlds, chest work, increase in bench wt and shoulder/tri work. Its a win win win. As always great job!

DDAY YEa the dips are coming along, need to push myself and get some more reps in a row.

PRINT Im going to try out that reverse stance, just to see what if anything I feel.

HARA Yea, I think if I can keep the cues maybe less arch? We will see.

G OK I will think about all this…I think I do tend to push out not up, k got it!

Not much to say, about training, havent done much.

Stretching and rolling, funny hearing more about feet rolling, ive been using my dogs toy whcih has lacrosse ball hardness yet a little flexible where the holes are to stuff in the treats.

Couldnt fall asleep last night and got thinking about push ups, used to do a ton more of them, so I popped out of bed and started jamming out some, which put me in full awake mode, how dumb. Anyway Ill be adding in more, but not at night when I should be sleeping.

Definitely didnt eat like normal being away this weekend so ill hit leg day tomorrow. I did have one VERY VERY LARGE meal fri night

meatloaf (generous serving) mashed potatoes(umm yea generous here too :stuck_out_tongue: salad roll pasta salad

but after only eating eggs, turkey bacon and a shake all day I had …

another serve of meatloaf, mashed Potatoes, corn, piece of chicken and a small piece of some kind of spice cake.
I could barely move, can you say “tummy buddy”. Kind of funny cause there was a guy next to us and he ordered off the kids menu.

Time for abs, something to get my heart pumping like 15 min HIIT, burpees, and end with some yoga moves.

UMMMMMMMMMM

This was a pic from the competition my daughter was in this weekend, she received a 5 day scholarship for jazz in LA, there will be 5 choreographers from SYTYCD teaching, how cool! I <3 Sonya!

She gets her flexibility from me, I WISH!!

Too cool.

Awesome picture! I absolutely love to watch dancers, it’s so amazing the control they have over their bodies. And they get so many fun costume changes.

I also love that you woke up in the middle of the night for push ups. Ha! Pure dedication right there!

Thanks it was pretty cool, and dancers are so strong.
Lulu Ill have to get my email to you as the weekend approaches, looks like snow sat but im not sure how much.

Still have a bit of a head cold, cant remember any lasting this long, sigh. If I went to the gym, Im sure I woud have finished early and come home, but i stayed home and gutted it out. Fought off the dizzyness, maybe ears still plugged grr
The convo deads felt easy and smooth, the sumos i really pulled my shoulders back and it felt so different.I think a couple more times thinking “retract” and i shouldnt have to think about it anymore.

The RDLs were good too, i just could not hold onto the 135, which fuckin pissed me off cause it wasnt feeling heavy, my grip gave up.I tried straps, which apparently Im rusty with, cause after 3 reps i couldnt hold on, double fuckery. At that point I considered going with a reverse grip just to get the reps, would YOU have done that? YES, YOU.

warm up

That had to convince hubby you’re certifiable.

Congrats on the daughter!

Thanks on daughter.

Well hes out of town, does it still count Cav? haha

Yes, I would have used any grip I could to get the reps

Picture is awesome, Congrats to your daughter

Straps or not, those RDLs are strong, girl! Awesome job!! I’d definitely take 'em, over mine any day!

And great work on the dips! You’re progressing fantastically on those. 17 is a fuck-ton. There’s a lot of ways to progress pullups/dips, but I think a steady course of 5x(whatever) and then moving to 5x(whatever +1) is smart. That’s how I progressed mine and was pretty successful. If your jonesing for more consecutive reps, maybe once you get 5x4 you can try for 4x5? Or something like that. So many different things to try…

Your daughter is absolutely lovely!! Clearly takes after her mom. And I’m with you, dancers, gymnasts, they have the most extraordinary strength and grace. I wish!

And no more late night exercising, mkay? Unless its the adults-only variety

Lil crap, yea I should have just did a mixed, oh well next time. Plus apparently i had my straps on wrong :open_mouth:
not a big surprise there, lol. Thanks on daughter, it was fun to watch her compete, she loves it.

Mash ok well ive got 3s so hopefully 4s are next week, or soon. See what if anything it helps.
My daughter is a tiny thing shes 5’2. Like someone else I know. Funny about the push ups I was almost going to pile some pillows on the floor and try a pistol squat, all the strong girls are doing em!! But I went for the P-ups instead.

rag a muffin RDLs this was the 115

Congrats for your daughter, Up!

Dips look great!

Same on the RDL’s!

I wish you could get your form down on some of these lifts /sarcasim. Couldn’t be much better than that on your RDL’s. Strong and smooth. Not sure how many times G has refered me to your videos to review form.

Back looks great Up! Do you have a forum? I am a TNation virgin, and trying to find my way around this place is confusing! lol Would love to follow your training progress!

Those RDLs looked SO effortless! Once you get your grip dialed in you’re gonna be a monster (a beautiful monster, don’t worry). I think I read an article pertaining to grip on here somewhere that suggested just walking around with the heaviest DBs you could. Grab 'em when you start woring out & carry them around with you, place to place. People may think you’re odd, though. Like having pet DBs…

Do you mean reverse grip or mixed grip? I use mixed grip for RDLs at 135 lb+. So strange because I never train my grip and I can’t recall it ever being the weak link in a lift.

And it’s true. Your form is just so God awesome.

Weaker sex, my a#@! Nice effort. Love the basement gym atmosphere.

I miss a day or two, and you’ve turned into a rock star.

Congrats on your daughter’s achievement.

And where are the Up “flexibility pics”?
