Glad to hear Lexie has made a smooth transition to school this year and is doing so well. I hope her motivation with lifting comes back, but if not perhaps she’ll find something else that excites her.
I used to work at a gym and remember asking people “what do you enjoy doing?” Everybody has to find their physical passion or they won’t stick with it. I’m a big believer in that.

She says that she wants to do Saturday and Sunday with me. She just doesn’t want to go after school. Unfortunately, she needs a day during the week, if she really wants to make progress.
And I agree. She needs to find her thing. That is why I let her do her own thing most of the time. Working out takes effort and drive. She has drive, but the physical effort she finds cumbersome. Hopefully that will change as she gets more settled.
If I ask her, “What do you enjoy doing?”. Straining and sweating will not make the list. So, I am just trying to find something physical that she can be involved in.
The MP is looking great. Hope Lexie finds her stride with you and finds her inspiration. My five year old is so excited about learning and I hope I am able to help her stay that way for life.
Lexie will come around. She is really into school right now, which is great! Once she is really settles in, I think i can get that 3rd day out of her. Or get her into something that she is interested in.
Still hate the Incline Bench setup they have. It is impossible for me to retract my scaps and then unrack the weight. Add to that a narrower than needed bench and it all feels very unstable. I guess the bright side is that my stabilizers are getting great work. I worry that it is begging for an injury, though.
I may have to move them to the Smith machine. I don’t want to do that, but it would be a lot safer.

Shoulder joints are definitely bitching about the Incline. But I love the way it hits my anterior delts, upper chest and triceps.
Left shoulder is feeling a little bit better. But my traps are now raising hell. Oh the growing pains…

Crappy workout on Wednesday. Spondy was really acting up. Pain in the lower back and running down into my left glute and thigh. Just made everything feel off, heavy and weak.
Not working out tomorrow, since I will be traveling. Decided to move heavy MPs back to Saturday. Wednesday wasn’t working out. Too much fatigue from work stress and having too long to think about what I needed to press that evening.
Busy day today. So, only got in a short workout.
Rack was, once again, in use when I got to the gym. Gent was doing squats with 115#. Then he proceeded to do upright row in the damned power rack. So, I did some facepulls and tricep pushdowns to warm up.

235x3 - felt heavy as hell
255x1 - changed form a bit and it went up strong
265x1 275x1 - PR +5# since returning – strong rep.
Karen, it feels good. It will feel better when it is 315# again.
Dave, it is getting closer. It is only 40#. On a good day I am probably good for 280-285#, right now. Even so, that climb from 300# to 315# took forever, last time. Hopefully this one will go faster.
Back in town. Got 2.5 hours of sleep total, in three blocks, between 6:00 Sunday morning and 10:00 Monday night. I was dragging ass big time.
Back to the gym today. Not sure what I am going to do. Gonna play it by ear.
Back to Lincoln this coming weekend, for the exact same drill.
Got back in the gym today. It was supposed to be speed MP and incline Press, but I wasn’t much in the mood. Knowing that I have to go out of town again, and miss Sunday’s workout again, I just went after heavy-ish.

All in all I was pleased with the workout. 275 went up again, just 4 days after the last time. It wasn’t as strong as Saturday’s, but never in question.
Gonna shoot for heavy again on Saturday, throw in some back and get ready to leave town for a few hours.
Oh…and I saw curling in the squat/power rack today.
I feel guilty enough doing MP in the power rack. Given the weight, though, and the fact that I don’t clean, it, at least, makes since. This fellow, though, was doing curls with 55#, and then just the bar.
Yes, it annoyed me. I had to wait an extra 2 minutes to get my rack.

Nice work on getting 275 again with very little sleep. [/quote]
Dave, I consider it a victory.
Unfortunately, I haven’t slept well since returning getting back from the trip. It is starting to wear on me. Might be an early night tonight. And I hate going to bed early on the weekends!
Today was my 3rd heavy MP day in the past 8 days. I could tell. Normally I would be pissed about missing my top set, but I kind of saw it coming. Last Saturday, 275# went up and was good for another 5#, probably 10#. Wednesday, 275# went up but was more of a struggle. Good for another 5#. Today I tried 280#. Got it to the top of my forehead and had no push left…just couldn’t get it through the transition area.
I had a feeling that today was iffy. Wednesday felt heavier and today even more so. My traps were still tight from Wednesday and my triceps still felt drained from the lockouts. I had decided to try going heavy twice a week. Apparently, my body prefers heavy once a week and a lighter/variant day on the other. Lesson learned.
Out of town tomorrow. I might try to get some very light work in just to get the blood flowing…active recovery.
Getting back to what I had been doing, Wednesday will be speed MP and incline bench.
