Artem, Were'd He Go?

I remember when Artem wrote his stats and i was thinking this guy really made some progress over that time period. Then i saw a pic and i was like WTF.

A lot of guys in the T Cell were commending him on his “progress”, telling him to keep it up and keep eating that he will look great when he leans out. Only one or two guys actually called out the bullshit and told him straight up that all he gained was pretty much fat.

Well he did lean out and we saw what was under there. Someone who isn’t knowledgeable on a topic can be easily influenced. This guy probably kept hearing keep eating, don’t worry about abs, drink a gallon of milk… Definitely a lot for guys just coming in the game to learn from.

You forgot that most of the recommendations you see assume hard work.

I’m not going to reread that thread again, but didn’t Artem get injured/sick or something that made him slack off on training while still doing some sort of keto diet?

He wound up looking exactly the same as he did pre-“bulk”, but his approach to cutting (from what I remember) didn’t do him any good as far as keeping whatever gains he DID make around.

Yes he did. He fucked up his shoulder or something and he couldn’t trained for months. And against the advice of some of the vets, kept dieting without training. He pretty much didn’t listen to any of the good, detailed advice that was given to him throughout the bulk and the cut.

Anyone that encourages someone to get that fat is out of their mind. This is bodybuilding, you want to look good.

Hard work, and also for most guys, it takes consistency that is sustained over many many years. Unless you hit the genetic jackpot, it takes time to get seriously big and strong. Looking at his pics, he does not appear to be gifted, athletically.

That thread is just a glimpse on how a man can loose perception of what’s happening and self bullshitting to extreme.

True

I remember my first “bulk”. Just the novelty of gaining weight every week felt great considering I was used to being really skinny. Then I remember taking photos, which are completely different from just the mirror, and could just see a chunky guy who hardly looked like he trained. A rough calculation shows that I probably gained 50/50 (muscle/fat)…which is bad enough, but Artem’s 30/70 (muscle/fat) is quite unbelievable lol.

I’m not against bulking, everybody needs to find their limits though.

What I find quite uncomprehendable is the fact that Artem’s training was very high volume (usually good for lean gains) which means that if he didn’t get good gains then his intensity must have sucked big time (and/or protein wasn’t high enough)…is it really possible to go to the gym for that long, to be on T-Nation, and to not realise that you need to push your strength up?

His strength gains sucked if I recall correctly. He wasn’t squatting above 225 or something stupid like that.

Yeah and his bench was under 250. When you can’t bench or squat your own body weight you know something went wrong.

Yea, but he was convinced his 100-lb weight-gain was good because he was “the strongest kid he knew.” I can’t believe everybody commending him glossed over the fact that he made very average gains for a beginner.

Wow, just read through that.

WS4JB was exactly dead nuts on the whole thread.

A ha !

I’m going to have to start using that one. And yes, I totally called it on Artem, he was truly too stupid to function.

I hear from Gerdy just about daily too…

So, curious-- if he was benching 315, squatting 400, etc etc then would he have been OK?

at least then you know he would of had to of gained some muscle to accomplish that

That’s kind of what I’m getting at. Some folks who judged the kid on his ‘failed’ bulk didn’t necessarily know his weight, just the physique at the moment.

I’m not advocating getting out of hand, but if he had to look like that to gain muscle, then that’s what he’d have to do. Folks on here would still call him obese.

I think it’s safe to say that if he was considerably stronger at the same BW than he’d be leaner too. No one should be that fat no matter how they’re lifting if the goal is bodybuilding.

Meh.

I say if you’re thinking long term, like in years and you don’t give a rat fuck what other people think, and you actually gain strength, size, and muscle, then what difference does it make?
