Armwrestling Techs?

I am 17. I want to be the best armwrestler. I have been armwretling for a litlle while was wondering if anyone has any speacial techniques and how often you you armwrestle and how long. How long is your rest time afterwards.

It would take a whole book to answer your question so here a few pointers.

First, if at all possible try to work with someone who knows something about armwrestling, or go to a competition and talk with someone there.

There are two super basic moves, the sweep and the top roll, learn both of those, normally work on the sweep first - see websites below

Read up as much as you can, unfortunately there isn’t that much info. There is a video out there that is good and some articles, I am attaching a few websites that have some good stuff.

Get a group of guys (or women) together and armwrestle, if you can get a table that is great. It is a tough sport to train alone.

Work on these muscles in specific although a total body program is always good. I tried to put them in order but it is debatable. Finger strength, Wrist Strength, forearm strength, bicep stength, shoulder stability, chest and lats, external rotators. Train with both arms in the gym and on the table, easier said then done.

Get some jumpstretch bands (jumpstretch.com) for training alone, don’t worry about the strong band you won’t be able to use that.

Finally try not to get hurt. Worst position to be in is if your hand gets behind your shoulder (as in a losing position with your body staying in a winning position) - easy to break your arm that way. Ideally your front delt should stay about 6 inches away from your hand at all times, winning or losing, and you should look at your hand. On negative of armwrestling is that it has a very high rate of injury.

Get fast, speed wins most armwrestling matches. Most people that don’t armwrestle are slow on the table - obviously I am talking about hand speed here.

I think that is about it for now. In the beginning armwrestle and lift as much as you can and once you get more familiar with it you can develop a better routine, hard to do for you with no info. Here are the links
