Are PL'ers Triceps Stronger Than Their Pecs?

You know, I have been very consistent with doing my upper body routines for over 3 months now and as of last week I started to add an additonal leg day session to my workout program. So what’s wrong with that?

I’m pretty sure no one here said there was a problem with being consistent over 3 months, or adding a leg day. So that makes your question pretty strange. If what you’re ACTUALLY asking is “why do people keep giving me shit for my questions/comments”, it’s because you ask the same inane stuff over and over again.

You over think things, particularly at your strength level. And you don’t come across as someone who’s really putting in the effort. So you’ve put in 3 good months? You’ve been posting here for years. What does that say about your effort?
Thank you glad to know its not just me
Its not just you. Numerous people have tried to get him to use a program like a 5/3/1, Stronglifts, or Starting Strength that is a solid cookie cutter program and requires basically zero brain power but he is hell bent on butchering concepts he doesn’t fully understand while trying to run WS4SB. He has a terrible case of the special snowflake syndrome.

look at the routines of the greats. they worked all muscles, relatively equally. and get the hell off westside, if youre inclined to overthink it youll chase your tail forever. stick to the basics and dont believe the bullshit that they stop working once you reach a certain level. the basics always work you just need to learn how to apply them.

Take a look at my log, I’m down to 6 lifts total at this point, spread over 4 days, with a little injury prevention for the joints sprinkled in. Seems like the longer I’m around this sport, the less I do, or I should say, the more effort I put into fewer things. I’d rather be really good at 6 things, than going in reverse on 30 things. I think it was Dan John that said, he used to need a gym full of equipment to get guys in shape, and 30yrs latter, he’s down to a gym bag full of equipment, and he’s getting guys in better shape. (Less is more), becomes more apparent the longer your around this game, just need to relax, and realize this is a life long journey, with decade’s ahead of you to grow, and learn. Goodluck !

I’m definitely tricep dominant when it comes to pressing yet I feel the strongest with a wide grip on the flat bench. I usually put my middle fingers on the grooves in the bar. It was actually kind of funny when my old training partner and I would bench. He’d be 10 lbs or so ahead to the chest but by the time we got to 3 boards I was about 50 lbs ahead.
Even though my triceps are the star of the show they wouldn’t be able to do shit without my pecs and shoulders. (Much like has been stated many times over.)

Seriously, BullScientist, and I mean this with all due respect, pick a program and run it. Write down your weight, bodyfat percentage, 10 rep max and 1 rep max on each core lift then run 5/3/1 Triumvirate AS IT IS WRITTEN for 3 or 4 complete 4-week cycles. Once you have done that, re-test your 10 rep max and 1 rep max on each lift. If you’re taking in enough protein and carbs (that’s been a problem of mine until recently) you WILL see improvements.

I am kind of excited after thinking through this thread. As a pretty good bench pressed (305x3 at 150 body weight) I have never done anything to focus just on my triceps. Today after trying some isolation exercises, I realize I am week relatively in that area. So I see this as a way to improve my lifting by spending a little more time hitting the weak areas.

Dam strong

Stop stressing about exercises, get in the gym, do the main movements, work on weak areas, get off this site and work man seriously.
