Are People Here Not Trying Very Hard?

I couldn’t physically back squat to parallel when I started either. The mobility comes with practice and time, but it’s worth striving for.

And how the f*** did you come up with that one? Jim is squatting atleast 3 times deeper than you are. You don’t even go parallel to the floor - let alone ass to grass.

I think 70% of posters here would squat 400 pounds for reps with your depth.

Props on uploading the video but you definitely need alot more depth to be comparing that to other peoples squats. Your new to this though, good luck with your goals
Thing is I CANT physically get into the same position JW is in in his video. It’s biomechanically NOT possible for me. But I can front squat 400 to a perfect parallel, and ill get a vid of that in due course. — yet if you look only at the bar, I am moving the bar much further than he is.

The mechanics of back squatting are tough for me.
You gotta start somewhere. Being able to squat with or without weight is a basic movement all humans should be able to accomplish.

You’re not moving the bar further than JW though.

It is possible for everyone to squat to at least parallel, you just don’t have the flexibility yet.

Indeed I just watched the vid again while it’s uploading… the bar travels A LONG way, if you watch JUST THE BAR, you’d think I was going really deep.

Hoever, if you watch just my legs, it DOESN’T look like they are moving very far.

Strange…

Compare the movement of your torso to Jim W’s. His upper body isn’t vertical, but it is in the same plane from start to finish.

A lot of your perceived depth and distance is coming from the forward motion of your torso - it becomes clearer during your last few reps. Just look at the vids.

I can front squat 400 to parallel easily – but not for reps.

I physically CAN NOT, back squat to parallel, even with 0 weight on the bar.
I’m no expert, but maybe your hamstring strength and ankle mobility is lacking. You should fix it now. It’s easier to correct mistakes the earlier you catch them. You have great potential, so listen to some of the more seasoned veterans and capitalize on it.

I doubt you hit 400 pounds on a solid front squat with even good (not even bothering with great) depth.
Sorry dude, I don’t want to sound like Mr. Negative here, but your posts are just very arrogant throughout the topic and I think you should be called out.

MM is going to have a laugh after seeing that squat video of yours…

A quick question - What happens when you get to the point where you can’t get any deeper? Do your heels lift? Do you fall backwards/forwards? Lose balance? Do you just get “stuck” at that height?

Ah yes, I see what your saying, it’s like a cross between a good morning and a squat at the same time. But as I’ve said

I just picked up a piece of tube put it across my back, and I CANT hit parallel.

I put the same tube in the front squat position, and it’s easy as fuck…

You have to remember i’m 6ft1 and 6ft2 in shoes. Back squatting is tough with these levers.
rofl, you’re funny. I’m an inch shorter than you and can go way past parallel on back squats. Your hips are most likely just tight as shit which is why you can’t even back squat your body weight properly. The mechanics and weight distribution changes when you shift the weight forward vis-a-vis front squatting. Work on your hip mobility.

Your depth blows. Drop the weight, stretch like a mother fucker, then nut up and hit depth.

Well, I fall forwards UNTIL my hips eventually hit parallel. However, at the point my hips hit parellel my torso would be nearly (not quite) horizontal with the floor… lol.
Tight hip flexors, lots of stretching is required (lunge stretches mostly).

Your biomechanics are just fine for hitting parallel.

LOL this dude has to be a troll, there is just no way!

Also remember that this is the first time i’ve seen myself squatting… so I didn’t know this until I watched this video.

Regardless that 400 is still very EASY. I just need to find a way of improving my depth… but at least I know that now.

Of course, no doubt many of you also have no clue about your own depth… it’s good seeing vids of yourself though, otherwise you would never notice these things.
Or, wait for it, get someone who knows their shit to judge your depth. If they do not know proper depth, explain it and then do it.

Until I see this video of a EASY 400lb front squat, I dont buy it.

Yes, I have a clue on my depth, I use mirrors to my side and I get people to judge it, and I explain exactly where I should go to.

Lose the attitude man, it will go a long way to helping you.

MM is going to laugh himself to death at that video.

Exatly what I’ve been thinking. No one can be That self involved while simultaneously being that un-self aware. He just posted a bad angled vid of half squats and says he squatted further than a parallel Wendler. And, he keeps making outageous strength claims with no videos to show his ever expanding strength, just bad form vids of his “stale” lifts. And, he claims to have added 70lbs to his bench in a week but when I asked about it he said it was actually just 25? Something just isn’t adding up.

Still no videos for me, at least upload them on youtube or to your hub profile…
