Application of Elbow Sleeves in Training?

Dear Jim,

Good evening Jim. Brandon here.

Do you approve the use of elbow sleeves in training? In your opinion, does the use of elbow sleeves will hinder the strength development in the long run?

Wish to hear your feedback regarding on this topic. Thanks.

Regards
Brandon

Pretty sure that goes into thinking about the 2% and not the 98%,
If you need them, use them. If Jim Wendler says no your going to stop using them if you need them? Guaranteed it doesnt matter,

I think the question most people on here will ask you first is: What is your purpose for using elbow sleeves? Is it to keep your elbows warm/give them support due to previous injury and wear and tear? Or is it that you feel they give you some pop on some lifts and allow you to push harder? Or is it both?

When it comes to throwing on equipment (belt, wrist wraps, knee sleeves in my case) I do, but I do it when doing PR sets, Jokers, or when a few weeks out from a power lifting meet and I am doing meet prep. Or obviously in the actual meet. A large portion of my training in without equipment. In my opinion this is important as it gets you to focus more on your body positioning and making sure your technique is correct. Then when you DO use equipment, it ends up being more of a force multiplier rather than a crutch.

But different strokes for different folks.

I think there are zero drawbacks using regular sleeves. They are more for injury prevention anyway.

Sure - use whatever you want or whatever you need.

Belts/wraps/sleeves - all this stuff does not matter one tiny little bit so don’t stress about it.
