Anyone Try Metal Black Wraps?

Curious if anyone has tried the metal black wraps, preferably the knee wraps?http://www.flexcart.com/members/elitefts/default.asp?m=PD&cid=300&pid=2189

I’m wondering why they are so expensive, compared to 20 dollar inzer knee wraps yet they are the same length. Do they give more pop out of the hole then the inzer version?

Is it designed for more heavy lifts like 600+, or primarily for competetion?

I don’t think they are meant for heavy lifts in particuliar. I have never used them, but from what I hear they are more comfortable material than most other wraps. One reason they cost more is the fact that they are made by Metal, which is probably the most expensive gear company.

I have had a pair of the Metal All-Black wrist wraps and a pair of ATP Convicts. The all-black are by far much more comfortable and are super strong. I think they are worth the money. My .02$

they’re not better than Titan THP’s and Titanium wraps and Inzer wraps…

I heard the stories how good they are, but when I tried them, I wasnt impressed…

first they’re full of rubber… thing is with rubber… it feels tight… but it continues to stretch on the way down… other fabrics may not FEEL as tight but they lock on the way down… (try wrapping with a piece of denim, you’ll see what I mean)…

I dont know why, but metal is first the most expensive, second they have the most different types of wraps… and all of them are not as good as some other manufacturers…

for me Titan THP are the first place because thats what I always used, I think Inzer is in the same class, I’ve just never liked the look… problem is, you’ll see the difference when you put them REALLY tight…

anything less than the tightest possible will give the same result with every wrap… you cant see actual difference before you go ALL out with wrapping…

They’re great wraps (disclaimer: I use them), but they’re not what I would call ‘comfortable’. With the cloth/rubber blends, you can crank those things TIGHT and they feel like a tourniquet. Although, I must say that I really hate wrapping my knees - to me the feeling is worse than the tightest bench shirt, squat or DL suit. Well, maybe not a DL suit.

I own APT convicts, strangulators, and blue mambas…

The mambas are the most comfy, but gives the least support. convicts and strangulators both give a lot more pop but very uncomfortable to use for warm-up/working sets.

Squat with mambas- 475
Squat with convicts/strangulators- 490

I tried metal wraps and they were not for me…

Unfortunately this is similar to asking which Bench shirt is the best, or which belt, or Squat suit…,

Everyone is going to have an opinion, and it’s really going to be a matter of preference. I use the Metal All Blacks for my wrists and love them. They have held up well, and are reasonably comfortable, but it is easy to crank them pretty tight, maybe too tight.

They are definitely expensive, so if cost is important, I think you could find something comparable for less money.

I get what you mean, I think I’m going to go with the new inzer wraps-true blacks or w/e- I used inzer wrist wraps before and I like them. Plus I’m a fan of inzer in general, also found them on sale for 25 bucks.

The Inzer True Blacks are great wraps. I’ve used to them with alot of success. Great pop out of the hole, and very comfortable.

The APT Convicts hurt like a mo-fo. Like REALLY badly and bruise me up quite alot, but the support is unparalleled.

I love the Metal Black wrist wraps, not overly fond of the knee wraps.

same here. i like the wrist wraps, hate the knee wraps. biggest complaint on the wrist wraps is they wear out way too fast and cost way too much

I’m trying to decide what my next wrist wrap should be. I’m thinking Convicts.

I tried the convicts a couple of weekends ago, and they felt pretty rugged. They felt like they had great support…tough to judge fairly because they were about a foot longer then my Metal’s. For the price, they are a great deal.

I have the convict wrist wraps, and they keep your wrist stable in squats and bench/push press, and any other movement really.

I use All-Blacks. The new blend is good, but if you get a dodgy pair they don’t stretch much at all. It should stretch more than Titan THP’s/Titanium’s and Inzer Iron Z, if it doesn’t then they’re an old or just crap blend. I get more out of them than the Titaniums or Iron Z’s.

This is with 2m wraps, cast style wrap, and with someone else doing it tight. They stretch further and are like a tourniquet when done tight. The extra two wraps I get from them being strechy make them worthwhile.

I haven’t tried the APT stuff though. I’d like to get a hold of some Convict’s, or “The Wrap” 3XH to try out.

Tried both the Metal and APTs and am partial to the APTs. I like the Metals, but as noted they don’t seem as durable to me for the use I give them.

I’ve standardized on Convict and Black Mambas for wrist and Mambas for knees. Happy as a clam with them and will stick with APT, more than likely.

I like the Metal all-blacks. They kind of remind me of the APT convicts- like wrapping you knee with a jump stretch band. I think the cost is a bit excessive though.

I love the Metal triple lines. They are not stretchy at all. Rather, they feel like wrapping your knee with canvas once you pull all the slack out. The are also the easiest to wrap yourself with since the material is not that hard to pull the stretch out of. Since I hate to have soemone else wrap my knees, that is why these are my meet wraps. I like how they look too.

Anyone try the APT Strangulators? How do they compare vs. other brands or the Convicts?
I might get a pair with the next order of gear I get from the US.
