Another Method of Ramping, One More Effective?

Mmm all good options here…for certain exercises though…I like to work up more of a top set. so lets say for squats
Warmup 135x8, 205x5, 245x3, 275x3, 315x3, 345x1, 375x1, then 405 for however many reps i get (if im going for higher) if i want heavier ill do another single with that then pop up another 30lbs and go from there.

But if that’s the case…on those pure power exercises I like to use that method.

But for cerain things like…let’s say your main movement is Military press…you want an assistance exericse after that…that is still a compound movement…but your MILITARY PRESS you use top weight sets. (ramp to max # of reps 8, 6,5, 3’s whatever)
and then after that you want to do inclines…this is where it’s accessory/assistance In that case you would use something like 4x6, 6x4, 5x5.
So let’s use 4x6 as an example: Would it be “better” not to use that rep scheme and build up to your desired max using reps of 6 (ex. 155x6, 205x6, 245x6, 275x6*top) or FOR THE ASSISTANCE/ACCESSORY MOVEMENT…does it NOT matter if you just do the same thing and RAMP up to the rep of 6…using no precscribed reps/sets…and just get that 6 reps max.

PS - so this is a question about the accessory/assistance movement, not the main movement that your doing :slight_smile: lol

Also I ask this question because I have made great strength gains using this protocal…also from thibadeau.

Athletic/Strength Block for lesser nervous system:
week1: - 3x8 (77-82%)
week2: - 3x8 (77-82%), 3x4 (85-90%)
week3: - 5/3/2/5/3/2 - ( 85%, 90%, 95%, 87%, 92%, 97%)
week4: - 3x6 - (80-85%) - for first 4 days, test on 5th.

As you can see this goes against a lot of the things that been talked around here…the advanced cycle here can be used to which is lower reps…but ive used it before and it was effective.
