I was refilling TRT and noticed Anavar was available for $400 for 60 50mg Tablets. Essentially $200/mo for an 8-week supply. I understand Anavar has worked well for others in the past, however is it good enough to be $200/mo? Desired goal with Anavar would be to do a Spring cut heading into Summer. I’ll be closing in on a year of TRT at that point, 120mg/week. I have already refilled my TRT however, I may opt for an Anavar fill next time and have it on standby for when the weather gets warmer. Thoughts?
$200/mo is chump change compared to many other options such as HGH. Is it worth it? Probably. Depends on what your starting condition looks like. Its not going to be magical, but if you are in peak shape looking to stay thick in a cut… sure.
@blshaw
I appreciate your feedback! Main goals are to lean out lower abdominals and retain as much muscle as possible. A comparison to HGH definitely illustrates how $200/mo isn’t that bad.
My plan is to stick with my regular TRT dose and just add Anavar. I’m excited to give it a try come next year!
The real question here is: do you want to spend that much money for fat loss which can be accomplished for the low low cost of Eating Less?
Totally doable without steroids. I know Var hast he reputation of being a cutting steroid, but other than a slight documented effect on fat loss, it builds muscle just like other anabolics. If you want to grow, then it’s great. If you want to lean up, just diet.
This is assuming you’re just a normal guy. I understand that goals may be different for someone already at 10% BF and trying to get to 6-7% while preserving muscle.
Anavar is good stuff, just don’t dose it crazy heavy. I would do 30mg a week for 4-6 weeks and see how you like it. Not sure why it’s called a cutting steroid. Helps with strength and crazy pumps. I always gain weight on Anavar. But then again I’m already lean with a physical job… I would worry more about the sleep. I find that stuff has me awake in the night.
It’s the only steroid that has an affinity for binding to adipose tissue (to my knowledge). It also has similar effects to Tren in regards to body composition (albeit much less pronounced than in tren), a process that we still do not fully understand.
@Andrewgen_Receptors
It’s more to experiment than anything. If my body responds well and I get the desired effect, then maybe it’s something I could run once a year or so. The adipose tissue binding is primarily drew me to it. As well as the minimum sides associated.
@swoops39
I figured it’s something I could throw on top of TRT and enjoy for 8 weeks. If growth occurs while dieting down, then I’m all for it. However, primary goal is to get leaner. Totally normal guy too; lean, but not 10% lean haha.
@Vistavilla
That’s good to hear! My provider only has 50mg tablets. I was planning on doing 25mg in the morning and 25mg in the afternoon. I heard they’re small, is it conceivable to reduce them into quarters? I’m all for trying it and seeing how my body responds.
this is me personally, but I felt like shit on anavar. 0 energy. no idea why. also, I thought you can’t get it legally anymore since FDA nuked it? the price seems crazy compared to UGL. I would probably ramp my T dose before i try another AAS. cheeper/safer. also in another ‘cutting’ phase, and what I found is that myfitnesspal/tracking/a mild caloric deficit(500-700 for me) are the way to go
I strongly hold that AAS are intended for an event, even if the event is the summer. But you must understand the physique you attain on AAS is not sustainable off AAS.
But if you are looking to look great all summer long, you are going to be on Anavar more than 4 to 6 weeks. Just saying…
@lamehack
That’s a wild reaction. Even with your regular test it crushed your energy? I’d understand if it suppressed but you would imagine energy would still be good with the test. Yes, it’s still available through prescription fortunately!
@RT_Nomad
What if it accelerates a leaner physique that’s maintainable? Not necessarily under 10% lean but perhaps the mid-teens? Perhaps it could act as an accelerant instead of something that gets me there and revert back. Because after 8 weeks I would just continue my TRT like normal.
That is just that, a “what if.” I have no evidence that it could be given credit for a sustainable benefit more so than any AAS.
@RT_Nomad
I appreciate your feedback! May be worth the try but also keep in mind that it may not have a sustainable benefit. I’m an optimistic individual, however I consider the alternative outcomes too just so I’m not disappointed haha.
If your goal is leaning out, I am a believer in semaglutide (which some T clinics are selling now). Not saying it is right for you. I do believe most will get leaner on that compared to Anavar if they are training in a similar fashion.
As far as training goes, how much cardio are you doing? What does the diet look like? Basically, what are you doing outside of the drugs to help achieve the goal?
@mnben87
Semaglutide is an interesting take. I’ll see if it’s available through my provider next chance I get and do some reading.
Nothing serious as of yet. I’ve reduced carbohydrates to <150g/day and am hitting 180-220g protein daily. I sit at 220 lbs at 6’1". I walk for 40 minutes a day for a mental break, as well as cardio purposes. I’m already leaning out from what I’m currently doing, however I’m just looking ahead five months out to potential additions.
I’m on TRT only as far as drugs go. Everything else is your traditional multis, turmeric, fish oil, probiotic, NAC etc.
yeah, I got mine from UGL so maybe it was junk (although a ‘reputable’ UGL). i’m on 210mg TRT weekly co suppression not an issue here…
@lamehack
Thinking so too. Especially with your established base of 210mg. Your energy should have been rocking!
Shame even ‘reputable’ sources still seek to sell fake product.
I mostly just wanted to see if you were doing something. TBH, this is close to what I do. I try to walk everyday, and I track calories and protein.
For sure. Research, then research some more when it comes to introducing pharma into your body.
I will tell you that I’ve never been leaner than when I was on Semaglutide. I think I did get pretty close to 10% on it. I am off it now, and purposefully bulking. I found that between 0.5 mg and 1 mg/wk was my sweet spot where I didn’t get negatives, but had an appetite reduction enough to push past where I had been sitting as far as body fat for a good while. I think it also works better if you’re doing things like the daily walk, and have a decent diet going into it. I had to use protein powder to keep my protein high enough while on it to hit my goal. Just didn’t have enough appetite to eat enough regular food and hit that goal.
I am guessing it is not great if your goal is to also build muscle while cutting, which at least for me never works anyways.
After the bulk, I’ll probably do a mini cut using Semaglutide again. I’ve heard it does seem to work better if you cycle on and off it for bulk and cut periods. IDK on that, that is just something I heard from one of my gym buddies.
As far as health goes, IDK either. It is FDA approved for weight loss, so there is that. Comparing it to adding an AAS, I don’t know if I could quantify it. I’d tend to think it would be better on long term health (as it has cardio vascular benefits, and AAS has the opposite), but there could be other things I am missing.
Kinda a rant. Sorry. Just thought I’d give you some stuff to think about.
@mnben87
I appreciate the detailed response! It’s an interesting idea of the positive cardiovascular effects of Semaglutide potentially balancing the any negatives from TRT or AAS’s. I’m glad it’s had a positive effect on you and getting down to 10% BF is no small feat!
I kinda see it as the best leanness PED after using. Other stuff exists (Clen, DNP, T3…), but has a lot more downsides from what I’ve read. At this point in my life, I am probably just going to stick to that and Test. More Test and no Semaglutide when I want to bulk. TRT level Test and Semaglutide when I want to cut. It won’t get me to the Olympia stage, but those two PEDs have me looking the best I’ve ever looked (I am a week out from turning 36).
