I got a question about my method of doing my last working set in madcows lifting program, which im doing at the moment.
I will take my workout today as an example: in my last set of deadlift which is 270lbs 1x5 I didnt make all the reps right after eachother. I started with doing 1, then resetted my setup (5secs break) and did 3, and did my last rep after i resetted Again. Is this counted as a valid set? Im considering to go 2-3 weeks back in my program (im on the 7th week now) so can work up to the point that i can do the 270lbs 1x5 without any breaks.
By the way after ive done the pull in the deadlift i just drop it instead of lowering it down as u should. Thats my way of doing the deadlift. Is this Wrong?
Oh yes, last question; how does madcows and deloading work together? When should i do it?
Don’t drop the barbell. Lower it. This will also keep you from having to “reset the barbell” because you dropped it and it rolled. And thus you can just hammer out five, one after the other. Take the weight back down to 250, maybe, and start from there.
Deload when you stop making regular gains, or when your body tells you it is tired. Otherwise, don’t sweat it when you are a beginning lifter. When you do, just take a week off, see if you can make more gains afterwards. If not, drop the weight five or ten pounds and reset from there.

Go to web site
download spreadsheet (its free)(It will be the SL5x5, dont worry, It changes to Madcow)
input numbers.
After 8-12 weeks, re input number (that will be your deload) if you are completely stuck on a weight

Just lift with intensity, all else will follow.

But first, read and follow program as is.

Haha when I think about it, it actually goes without saying! Because the first weeks of the madcows are very low weights compared to your 1RM/3RM/5RM (40%-60%).
And I’m already using the spreadsheet, very useful!
